The Best Baking Classes in Singapore That Are Better Than Your Regular YouTube Baking Tutorial

I’ve been a pastry and bread lover all my life, but it was only when I became an adult earning my own money that I decided to try making them. For several years, I studied on my own with the help of YouTube.

Eventually, I discovered that studying on my own wasn’t the right path for me, so I changed tactics: I started going to in-person baking classes. Fortunately, there are many of them in Singapore, and they cover various niches in the field!

In the several years I’ve been attending them and honing my craft, these are the ones that have my stamp of approval!

ABC Cooking Studio Singapore

Address: 391B Orchard Rd, #03-12 / 12A Takashimaya Shopping Center
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6566946104
Website

ABC Cooking Studio has been around since 1985, and in that time, it has launched several locations in different countries, including Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore. In this country alone, there are about three! My go-to is the one on Orchard Road.

What I like about this cooking studio is that there are five courses available: cake, bread, cooking, wagashi (traditional Japanese confections), and kids. I’ve personally attended the cake and wagashi classes, and they’re so much fun!

I love that no experience is needed to attend any of the classes. Plus, the classes are small—just with four people at the maximum—so it’s easy for me to feel comfortable. The instructors are also able to pay more attention to each one of us.

Pro Tips:

  • Not sure if you want to commit to a class? You can join a trial class to see if this experience is for you.
  • If you want to be able to reserve your spot in a class, you might want to join their membership program.

BELLS Baking Studio

Address: 3 Temasek Blvd, #02-408 / 409 / 411 / 412 Suntec City
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—8 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +6588280317
Website

Most people know BELLS as a tech company that deals with AI, cybersecurity, and more. But did you know they also have a baking studio? I know, I was surprised to learn it myself!

The studio I attended is the one in Suntec City, and it’s such a stunner! With more than 6,000 square feet of area, the studio is massive and furnished with industry-grade equipment. I felt like I was a contestant in a MasterChef show!

There are many classes to choose from. I’ve personally loved the classes on Southeast Asian delights and premium cakes, and I can’t wait to try the classes on choux pastry and breads and tarts.

Pro Tip: The studio also has BELLS Baking Club, their membership program. With this program, you have access to many perks, including classes that you can purchase and view on your tablet at your own pace!

Baker’s Brew

Address: 246H Upper Thomson Rd
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 9:30 pm
Contact Number: +6564932246
Website

Baker’s Brew is a beloved cake shop in Singapore, so I was happy to know that they’re offering baking classes as well.

I love how the instructors are so nice and friendly. Even when I kept making mistakes, they were so patient with me. I appreciated their kindness, especially since I took the macaron class and macarons are apparently hard to get right (at least, for me).

Aside from macarons, this studio offers classes in specific kinds of desserts, such as brioche donuts, salted caramel chocolate cake, and mont blanc tartlets. I’m eager to try some of them in the future!

Pro Tip: Looking for a fun activity to do with your co-workers? This studio offers corporate team-building workshops

RedMan Shop by Phoon Huat

Address: 1 Jurong West Central 2, B1-51/52/53 Jurong Point
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 9:30 pm
Website

RedMan Shop is where I go to stock up on baking supplies, and now, I think it’s going to be where I go to learn more about the craft as well.

There’s a good variety of classes here—some general (like the Art of Bread Making), and others more niche (focusing on certain kinds of cakes). Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed scrolling through my options.

Many classes are beginner-friendly, but there are also intermediate ones for people who already know the basics. I’ve personally attended the bread-making classes, and I love how the instructors make the process seem easier than it really is.

Pro Tip: This studio offers corporate or group baking workshops

GRA Baking Academy

Address: 401 MacPherson Rd, #02-11/12/13 Macpherson Mall
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Sunday—10 am to 7 pm
Contact Number: +6591867640
Website

What I love about GRA Baking Academy is that there are classes for everyone, no matter what their proficiency level is. Beginner, amateur, and master classes—they have it all here!

There are also different kinds of classes available, including ones eligible for SkillsFuture Singapore (a nationwide program that encourages Singaporeans to acquire new skills). If you’re already skilled, you should take any of the Master Classes.

I love taking the cake decoration courses here. I’m very bad at cake decorating, but the instructors here are always so encouraging, which is helpful because now I can make a cake look actually pretty enough for Instagram!

Pro Tips:

Bespoke Bread

Address: 21A Lengkong Satu
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—9 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +6580304847
Website

If you’re passionate about bread, then you should book a class at Bespoke Bread. As you can guess from the name, this studio offers classes on different types of bread. Sourdough is their specialty, but they also teach pizza bread and focaccia.

I love that there are beginner-friendly classes here because making bread can be tricky. It’s not that it’s hard; it’s more that there are many things to consider, and newbies will find the process overwhelming. Luckily, the instructors here are friendly and patient.

Once you’ve mastered the fundamentals, you can make your way to the intermediate class, which builds on the skills you’ve already learned. If you’re like me, you’ll feel like a winner when you complete all the tasks laid out for you here!

Pro Tip: Don’t have the ingredients and equipment to make bread? This studio has a store selling a few essential items, such as sourdough starters, flour, and dough whisk.

JusBaking

Address: Sengkang E Ave, Block 282C
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—8 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +6592337935
Website

If you’re thinking about learning baking with other people—perhaps with your kids, friends, or your partner—then JusBaking is for you! This studio offers class setups for different scenarios.

It’s also great that they offer a great variety of classes, each about a specific kind of baked good. I’ve tried their classes on how to make a chocolate cake and Oreo cheesecake, but they also have lessons on how to make cheesecakes without baking.

Classes on bread-making, especially focaccia and wheat germ loaf, are also available.

Pro Tips:

ITSI Baking Studio

Operating Hours

  • Tuesday to Friday—10:30 am to 9 pm
  • Saturday—10:30 am to 5:30 pm

Contact Number: +6583835698
Website

While most baking studios feature the best equipment in the market, ITSI Baking Studio uses basic tools and gadgets. I love this setup because it invites beginners and convinces them they can create masterpieces even if they don’t have a fancy kitchen.

For their classes, it seems like they’re leaning towards Asian pastries, such as the different kinds of kueh, dim sums, and mooncakes. I enjoyed taking these classes because Asian pastries deserve more love; plus, they’re not as hard to make.

Aside from Asian pastries, you can also learn the basics of making bread, cakes, cookies, and even chocolates.

Pro Tip: Looking for a fun date night or a bonding session with friends or family? Then, you should book a private class here.

Operating Hours

  • Monday—11 am to 5 pm
  • Thursday to Sunday—10 am to 6 pm

Nanatang has come a long way. They started as an online bakery in 2013, and now, not only are they a trusted bakery, but they’re also a popular studio offering baking classes to anyone interested!

I love that they offer classes on pastries I’m not really familiar with. For example, I attended one about canelé (a French pastry with a soft and tender custard and a thick caramelized crust) and another one about bomboloni (Italian-style donuts).

Sometimes, they even host international masterclasses by renowned chefs! I never got the chance to attend one because it always sells out fast.

Pro Tip: Book a private event at this baking studio for a small party or an intimate gathering with loved ones!

The Vanilla Bean SG

Address: 767 Upper Serangoon Rd, #02-11, Spazio@Kovan
Contact Number: +6594881212
Website

Seeing The Vanilla Bean SG’s Instagram is enough to convince me to try one of their classes. Their pastries just look so pretty, and I want to learn how to do that as well!

I’ve now attended several of their classes, and though my decorating skills are still nowhere at their level, I’ve definitely learned many tips and tricks that will help me in the future. Plus, the instructors are just so nice; it feels like conversing with a friend.

My favorite class is the 3D Jelly Art Floral Cake Workshop, but I also love the classes on 3D mooncakes, Korean-style petit fours, and Korean sand cookies.

Pro Tip: This studio has an online store that sells items that you can use to decorate your pastry.

Palate Sensations

Palate Sensations boasts a 2,000-square-foot kitchen with state-of-the-art equipment and a staff that includes an executive chef and a pastry chef. For this reason, this studio is perfect for people who are serious about becoming a professional chef.

While many studios prefer small groups, this one loves to work with larger groups. It can be nerve-wracking to see many people in one room (very reminiscent of cooking competition shows), but it’s actually nice because you can befriend like-minded folks.

The array of classes offered here is impressive. I personally took their classes on French pastry and Western pastry, but you can also learn about bread making, cake decorating, and Asian desserts.

Pro Tip: You can book events like birthdays and hen’s parties here.

Creative Culinaire

Address: 17 Eng Hoon St, #01-03/04
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—9 am to 5 pm
Contact Number: +6585116487
Website

Creative Culinaire is another cooking studio that’s known for training people who want to work as a professional chef. That’s why their approach always includes teaching students bakery management on top of baking skills.

But if you just want to be a hobbyist baker, you’re still welcome to join a class. I certainly did. The studio has even prepared for hobbyist students: there’s a selection of short courses! In just three hours, you can learn the basics of baking.

Another thing I like about this studio is that they have themed classes. For example, there are courses themed around Christmas and Chinese New Year. Attending these classes is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

Pro Tip: Strengthen the bond between you and your friends or co-workers by booking a group workshop here!

Bake King

Address: 10 Haig Rd, #01-363/365 Block 10 HDB Haig

  • Monday to Saturday—8:30 am to 8:30 pm
  • Sunday—8:30 am to 5:30 pm

Contact Number: +6567428388
Website

Bake King has been around since 1952, and since it’s located within an HDB building, most of its students are local residents who are looking for a new hobby. So, the vibe here is pretty chill but still enjoyable.

The classes here are created with beginners in mind, so you’ll learn the basics first (e.g., how to measure ingredients and the science behind the process). The recipes are always easy to follow. Even kids can accomplish them without any problem!

You’ll mostly be making desserts, but you might also learn about savory pastries (at least I did when I came here the last time).

Pro Tips:

  • Book a private class for yourself and your loved ones here. This private class can also be for a birthday party or other special events.
  • If you need new gear or ingredients, there’s a store here.

BakeFresh Studio

Address: 1 Tanjong Pagar Plz, #02-42 Tanjong Pagar Plaza
Contact Number: +6597101227
Website

BakeFresh Studio is another baking studio that has a more laid-back vibe. That’s why it’s a popular choice for families, friends, and couples who are looking to spend more quality time together.

You can learn a wide variety of specific pastries and treats. I started my baking journey by attending the class on Thai milk tea cheesecake and strawberry shortcake cookies, and I’m looking forward to attending the eclat fusion cakes.

Sweet treats aren’t the only ones you can learn here. They also have classes on savory baked goods, such as pepper meat buns and bàhn mì (to be more specific, you’ll be learning how to make the baguette for the sandwich).

Pro Tip: If you’re interested in booking a private group class, you can leave a query via this form.

Anatta Culinary Academy

Address: 130 Neil Rd, Level 1
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +6587970130
Website

Anatta Culinary Academy is relatively new (it was founded in early 2024), but it has already garnered buzz among newbies and amateur bakers. Naturally, I had to check it out because I was curious—and I was not disappointed!

I love the array of courses offered here. There are classes focused on simple and comforting recipes (perfect for casual bakers), and there are also ones that are more complex and decadent.

I attended the classes on filled truffles and dipped pralines, and though I was nervous during the whole session, I ended up having fun. I don’t think my truffles and dipped pralines looked pretty, but they were edible and delicious, so it was still a win for me.
