We gorged ourselves at the best buffets in Orchard

Orchard Road and its vicinity hosts some of Singapore’s most iconic hotel buffets. For instance, the legendary Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts has won numerous awards for its extensive spread!

Aside from this award winner, we’ll share other buffets we tried and loved in the area for unlimited lip-smacks and burps!

Kiseki Japanese Buffet Restaurant offers great value for money with various dishes including cooked foods, salads, sashimi, oden, and shabu shabu hotpot. I always love the unique mini-hotpot experience coupled with a great view whenever I’m here.

For a nice mix, I go for fresh salmon sashimi and delicious fried foods like chicken and tempura—totally burp-worthy! Plus, there’s no 90-minute time limit like most other buffets.

Pro-tip: Check out the free-flow ice cream in flavours like matcha, lime, vanilla, and chocolate.

GoroGoro Steamboat and Korean Buffet

Steamboat buffets are a favourite for me and my friends, especially on rainy days and GoroGoro is one of our go-tos. With seven soup bases to choose from, both spicy and non-spicy, there’s something for everyone.

The Korean-style cooked food is a highlight, especially the crispy, sweet fried chicken. Drinks and condiments are included at no extra cost, which is rare for steamboat spots these days.

Pro-tip: The place offers discounts for students, too.

For a quiet and elevated type of all-you-can-eat lunch, I choose One Ninety. It’s comfortable, without the usual buffet bustle, and the service is always swift and friendly so I feel extra pampered.

The spread is also no-fuss, featuring clean flavours, tasty salads, desserts, and a consistently good duck confit. The place also comes up with a seriously delicious and crispy laksa seabass.

Plus, the acoustics are great, perfect for quality time with loved ones or socialising (or even business deals).

Pro-tip: You can make an online reservation here.

Tokyo Yakiniku Heijoen Takashimaya

Tokyo Yakiniku Heijoen Takashimaya is a haven for Wagyu beef lovers. However, non-beef eaters might find limited options, with only a few pork and chicken dishes and some side salads.

I recommend the fillet cube cut and premium Wagyu yukke. They’re easy to grill perfectly. And don’t miss the new daily limited lunch set, offering a variety of cuts on one platter, if you want to be more adventurous.

Pro-tip: Come early. Only ten sets are available daily while stocks last.

Makan@Jen offers a modest spread, but the dishes are fresh and replenished quickly. The cooks excel at the hot stations with satays, grilled squids, clams, and river prawns.

Highlights include free-flow mentaiko scallops, grilled cheese river prawns, and steamed oysters in soy bee hoon (vermicelli). Soup, salad, kueh pie tee, and various fish dishes are also free-flowing.

Pro-tip: Try the bak kut teh here. It’s quite tender and hearty.

The seafood at Estate, especially the prawns, is incredibly fresh, with preparations like steamed, chilli, peppery, and grilled. The buffet includes lobster, crab, crayfish, clams, and more (those oysters were in trouble the minute I spotted them).

Plus, there’s a diverse range of Indian, Japanese, Cantonese, and Western dishes, along with an array of desserts and traditional kuehs. It’s some of the most colourful and creative presentations of sweets I’ve ever seen.

Pro-tip: Check out the awesome cheese selection, as well (37 types!).

The Orchard Cafe

The Orchard Cafe has a stylish setup with lush greenery. Its Heritage Legacy Buffet offers authentic Chinese, Indian, and Malay dishes along with succulent Western grilled meats.

The fresh seafood variety is a real highlight for me. The sashimi is melt-in-the-mouth yummy, and the lobster and crab legs were always replenished so there was enough for everyone.

Pro-tip: Round off your seafood feast with scrumptious chocolate pudding. Its rich, velvety texture and perfect sweetness are just right.

Carousel is a fantastic spot for an international buffet. It’s perfect for everyone, including our Muslim friends, as the food is halal-certified.

I can always count on this buffet to have a wide range of sashimi, international dishes, Indian cuisine, salads, hot food, and desserts. Small wonder it’s been voted the Best Buffet Restaurant in Singapore at the AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards for seven consecutive years!

To round off your meal, different types of coffee and tea, like Earl Grey, green tea, cappuccino, and espresso, are also available.

Pro-tip: Parking is complimentary up to S$12, with a parking coupon provided for scanning.

Basilico

At Basilico, the buffet might have fewer options, but the focus is on high-quality ingredients. With luxe items like months-cured Parma ham, lobster, and authentic pasta dishes, I don’t mind at all.

The cheese room is a highlight, with over 50 artisanal cheeses and infused kinds of honey. I’m a big fan of the truffle one.

And because it’s first and foremost an Italian buffet, don’t forget to check out its pizza selection because even the simple four-cheese is delightful.

Pro-tip: There are unlimited prime steaks for every Thursday buffet dinner.

Spices Cafe

Address: 100 Orchard Rd, Concorde Hotel

Hours: Thursday to Sunday, 6–10.30 AM, noon–2.30 PM and 6.30–10 PM

If you’re a laksa fan, Spices Cafe is a must-visit. It’s probably the only buffet with options to add cockles. The satay here is also top-notch with the option of pineapple sauce, which is a nice surprise.

The seafood buffet includes all the usuals—oysters, snow crab, sashimi, and more. A standout feature is that each diner can order a plate of abalone or half a baked lobster with cheese or mentaiko!

Pro-tip: You can also enjoy free-flow crab in chilli, black pepper, or salted egg style.

TungLok Seafood

At LungTok Seafood, the portions are generous—thick, fresh salmon sashimi; solid flesh in the chilli crab; and a whole tilapia! You’ll blow a gasket here if you’re a pescatarian.

At the deluxe buffet lunch, we found the chilli crab to be fresh with tangy sauce, and the vermicelli oyster delicious, too. With all the rich sauces and sides, I fully expected my tongue to be drowned in MSG, but everything tasted nice and clean.

Pro-tip: For convenience, use the QR code at the table for ordering though there are also servers on standby.

Lime Restaurant

My seafood-loving family and I always have a blast at Lime Restaurant’s lobster buffet. We get to enjoy unlimited grilled lobster, perfectly cooked lobster Thermidor, white and black pepper lobster, and lobster chunks simmered in soup broth.

But my mom insists the breakfast buffet is better, with sweet, fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juices that kick start her day perfectly. She also raves about the egg station where her favourite omelettes are handcrafted.

Pro-tip: For vegetarians and vegans, Lime Restaurant also offers meatless alternatives like soups, salads, fruit platters, and dim sum.
