The lunch-only dim sum menu at Hai Tien Lo features classic favourites with a twist and creative new dishes, all beautifully presented by attentive staff. It’s pricey, yes, but great for indulgent moments like birthdays and anniversaries.
Standouts include the flavourful BBQ pork buns, juicy deep-fried beancurd skin with prawn paste, crispy fried wontons with Japanese sauce and bonito flakes, and unique siew mai (small dumplings) with a hint of truffle. They’re the perfect treat for pampering yourself!

If I could, I’d have dim sum for lunch every day! Thankfully, Beng Hiang Restaurant’s dim sum lunch buffet makes that easy with its generously filled dumplings like siew mai and har gao (shrimp dumplings).
Another standout was the handmade pork bao, which was nicely moist and a cut above the standard variety. I can also opt for the free-flow healthy beverages and enjoy switching between different drinks at no extra cost.
Pro-tip: Weekends can get packed here, so best to make a reservation.

What sets Si Chuan Dou Hua apart for me is its unique touch on classics and the variety that caters to every palate. I couldn’t resist the spicy mala siew mai—a bold twist on the traditional dumpling that had just the right kick of spice.
Its dim sum spread is impressive, but a few dishes truly stole the show. The steamed shrimp dumplings with bird’s nest were delicate yet packed with flavour, while the crispy beancurd skin rolls with prawns provided a perfect crunch that kept me going back for seconds.
Pro-tip: Make your dim sum buffet reservation here.

If you’re looking for great value, Jia He Chinese Restaurant’s dim sum afternoon tea buffet is a steal at just S$20.80++ per adult. I was amazed at how much deliciousness I could enjoy without breaking the bank.
Here’s a little tip: bring along three friends to Jia He, and one of you eats for free! With the option to choose a dozen out of 16 items and enjoy them on a free-flow basis, you’ve got to be smart with your picks.
Pro-tip: For a variety in taste and texture, I recommend trying the deep-fried banana and prawn, chicken feet, carrot cake, and siew mai.

Sum Dim Sum has some unique offerings, like the pandan crispy pork (a must-try), deep-fried salted egg sesame balls, and Hong Kong-style congee. The blue crystal shrimp har gow is fresh, though, at S$7.30, it feels a bit pricey.
I suggest bringing more people to enjoy a wider variety and split the cost—much better than just two. We didn’t have a reservation, but the wait for a weekend lunch wasn’t too bad (and helped whet our appetites).
Pro-tip: Its proprietary chilli sauce pairs perfectly with the dim sum and fried rice.

A colleague treated us to all-you-can-eat dim sum at The Buffet to celebrate a career milestone, and the food selection was impressive—fried chicken wings, har gow, laksa, crystal dumplings, gyoza, porridge, spiced fish paste dumplings, egg custard, and more.
My personal favourites were the chilli crab, chicken feet, and mee goreng mamak (stir-fried yellow noodles). The chilli crab gravy, packed with unshelled crab meat, haunted my dreams with its delectable taste.
Pro-tip: The staff can accommodate special requests such as seating for very young children.
Yum Cha

Hours:
Tuesday to Friday, 11 AM–3 PM, 5.30–10 PM
Saturday to Sunday, 9 AM–3 PM, 6–9 PM
Price: $$
Yum Cha’s dim sum selection is extensive, but a few items are memorable for me. The steamed Shanghai dumplings were an absolute delight, with a thin, delicate skin that burst with a savoury broth when you bit into them.
But the real showstopper was the crispy roasted pork belly, with its perfect crackling skin and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. Paired with the unique mango prawn rolls for a sweet twist, Yum Cha’s buffet was pure dim sum heaven.
Pro-tip: Dining with kids? Order the Pa Pa & Ma Ma Bao. Their colourful appearance is a hit with little ones, and they taste great too!

Peach Garden has a relaxed vibe with its crystal lights and offers an unbeatable dim sum deal for young seniors over 50—just under S$3 per basket, even on weekends and evenings.
The best part? Only one person above 50 is needed at the table! We were so happy my 54-year-old uncle was with us at the time.
The staff was super attentive, even offering to cut dim sum into bite-sized pieces for easy sharing among our group.
Pro-tip: Finish your dim sum feast with some delectable steamed creamy custard bun.

With a wide variety of options to choose from at Ban Heng, the crispy fried prawn dumplings quickly became my favourite. They were perfectly golden and filled with juicy prawn goodness.
I also loved the steamed pork ribs in black bean sauce, which were tender and packed with flavour. Also, the custard lava buns have a soft exterior and a rich, flowing salted egg yolk filling that was just divine for dessert.
Pro-tip: Check out new menu launches and promos at the Ban Heng website.

Monday to Friday, 11 AM–3 PM, 5.30–10 PM
Saturday to Sunday, 11 AM–5 PM, 6–10 PM

I recently enjoyed a dim sum buffet at TungLok Teahouse, and it was a feast I won’t soon forget. The standout for me was their steamed chicken and mushroom dumplings. Each bite was juicy and flavorful, with a delicate balance of earthy mushrooms and tender chicken.
For a twist on traditional dim sum, the steamed crown daisy dumpling is a must-try. The delicate, translucent skin of the dumpling is encased in a fragrant filling of crown daisy greens offering a unique, mildly bitter flavour balanced by natural sweetness.
Pro-tip: The dinner buffet is limited to 90 minutes.
Swatow Seafood

If you were born in the 1980s, you’ll probably remember Swatow Seafood and its old-school dim sum on pushcarts—a classic choice for Chinese wedding banquets.
My family loves the pushcart style; it lets us see the dishes before picking, which beats ordering from photos. Plus, the food stays hot and fresh, unlike when it’s been going around for a while.
I was genuinely surprised by how much this dim sum buffet had to offer. We didn’t even get to try everything because we were already stuffed with carrot cake, shrimp dumplings, pork buns, glutinous chicken rice, and a pot of pu’er tea!
Pro-tip: There’s a lift available for customers with mobility issues.
Man Fu Yuan
— Media from manfuyuansg
Address: 80 Middle Road Level 2 InterContinental Singapore
Contact: +6568251008
Hours: By reservation
Price: $$$
Man Fu Yuan’s Cantonese dim sum buffet is an expensive but unforgettable treat. The chef’s signature selection was spot-on, with tender steamed spare ribs and fragrant sweet soy milk with osmanthus (an aromatic flowering plant).
My instant favourites were the pork, mushroom, and scallop dumpling with abalone and caviar, mini cheese egg tarts and mini curry barbecued pork lava pineapple bun—all delicious and beautifully presented.
Pro-tip: Got a birthday? Expect a complimentary cake when you dine.
