Take your tummy on a continental trip through the 16 best European restaurants in Singapore!

I may be biased toward Asian cuisine because I’m Asian, but I unapologetically adore European cuisine as well. The variety is astounding: fluffy-like-clouds pastries from France, hearty pasta and pizza from Italy, vibrant seafood dishes from Spain, and more!

That’s why it’s been a dream of mine to go on a trip to the European continent and just indulge in all the delicious food. I don’t have the funds to do that yet, but fortunately, I can still explore these cuisines at home.

There are plenty of them here, and here are the ones I recommend the most.

Odette

– From: odetterestaurant

Address: 1 St Andrew’s Rd, #01-04 National Gallery

Operating Hours:

  • Monday—6:30 pm to 8 pm
  • Tuesday to Saturday—12 pm to 1:15 pm, 6:30 pm to 8 pm

Contact Number: +6563850498

Website

Located inside the National Gallery, Odette is a French restaurant with a timeless feel. It also has three Michelin stars, so you can expect to find nothing but greatness here.

The prix fixe tasting menu changes often, but you can expect it to have five or seven courses.

During my most recent visit, I had a mushroom brioche topped with shaved black truffle as an appetiser (loved the earthy flavours of this one). For the main course, I had the creamiest egg ravioli ever!

Pro Tip:

  • This is a very popular restaurant, so it gets fully booked easily. I recommend booking your reservation at least a month before your date.

Rhubarb

– From: rhubarb_le_restaurant

Address: 3 Duxton Hill

Operating Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday to Saturday—12 pm to 2:15 pm, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Contact Number: +6581275001

Website

Another Michelin-starred French restaurant in Singapore is Rhubarb. Situated in Duxton Hill, this place is pretty small and cosy, making it a great spot for a romantic date with your partner.

The dinner menu is fixed and comes with several courses. My favourite part is the main dish, which is beef with waffles. This food combo surprised me at first, but it actually works. I love how the rich juices of the beef seep into the waffle, so every forkful is just savoury perfection.

Pro Tip:

  • If you want to have an intimate dinner with loved ones, you might want to book their private room. You can choose between the lunch menu (four courses) or the dinner menu (five courses).

Fleur De Sel Le Restaurant

– From: fleurdeselsingapore

Address: 64 Tras St

Operating Hours: Tuesday to Saturday—12 pm to 2 pm, 6:30 pm to 10 pm

Contact Number: +6562226861

Website

I love how absolutely charming and cosy Fleur De Sel Le Restaurant is. It’s located inside a shophouse on Tras Street, and the walls are decorated with adorable paintings of flowers. The whole place is just a vibe.

As for the food, you can find a slew of classic French cuisines with a modern twist. I love the Wagyu steak, which has been slow-cooked for two hours, making it super soft and tender. It’s savoury on its own, but the sweetness from the caramelised onion and red wine sauce elevates the flavours further.

Pro Tip:

Saint Pierre

– From: saintpierresg

Website

Treat yourself to a French fine dining experience like no other at Saint Pierre! This two-Michelin-starred restaurant features French flavours with a few influences from Asian cuisine. It also boasts gorgeous views of Marina Bay, which enhances the ambience.

My favourite dish here is the Brittany Blue Lobster. The lobster has a mellow sweetness that I like, and that flavour pairs well with the earthy, umami notes from the wild mushrooms.

Pro Tips:

  • You can have your elegant celebrations like birthdays and weddings here.
  • If you want a more intimate gathering with up to 14 people, you can book their private room instead.

Basilico

Website

At Basilico, you can experience the bold flavours of Italian cuisine in a sleek, stylish environment. The best part is that it’s a buffet, so you can pile your plate with all your favourite Italian dishes.

I love coming here for brunch, and my go-to choice is the Wagyu lasagna because it’s just super rich and tangy, and the meat is tender and savoury.

Aside from the pasta, I also love the pizza options. The classic pizza margherita, with its zesty sauce and creamy fior di latte, is hard to beat.

Pro Tip:

  • If you want to host a private dinner here with loved ones, you need to send your request via email ([email protected]).

Website

Another Italian restaurant that you must check out is Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse.

Of course, steaks are the main highlight here, and I recommend the Wagyu striploin because it has a wonderful marbling, making it super tender and fatty. For sauce, I recommend the Sweet Gorgonzola Butter. Its sweet, salty, and cheesy flavours enhance the richness of the steak.

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant has a loft with a cosy, ambient atmosphere. It’s perfect for private celebrations with up to 30 guests.

Garibaldi Italian Restaurant and Bar

– From: garibaldisingapore

Address: 36 Purvis St, #01-02

What I love about Garibaldi is that it honours the authentic flavours of Italian cuisine even when the chefs put a few innovative twists to the dishes. I also love the vibe here; it’s toeing the line between casual and fine dining really well.

I usually order from the Chef’s Recommendations menu, and my favourite is the squid-ink spaghetti with crab meat. The tomato sauce is tangy and acidic, with a strong kick of spice at the end. The crab meat also adds a subtle sweetness that I like.

Pro Tip:

  • Enjoy a private event like a birthday party or a family gathering in one of the restaurant’s cosy private rooms.

Alma by Juan Amador

– From: almabyjuanmador

Address: 22 Scotts Rd, Goodwood Park Hotel

Operating Hours: Tuesday to Saturday—12 pm to 2:30 pm, 6 pm to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6567359937

Website

I love the atmosphere here at Alma by Juan Amador. With its big windows and wooden furniture, this place makes you feel like you’re dining in the Spanish countryside!

The food is marvellous as well, which isn’t a surprise since this restaurant has a Michelin star. I recommend trying the tasting menu; you can choose between the six-course or the eight-course one.

For me, the standout dish from the tasting menu is the Aquna Murray cod, which is served with crustacean cream and caviar vinaigrette. I’m obsessed with how flaky the meat is, and the cream and vinaigrette have that zing that livens up the dish.

Pro Tips:

  • This restaurant has a special promotion every Valentine’s Day. It’s the perfect opportunity to have a romantic dinner with your partner.
  • You can also host a private event here. Even weddings are welcome here.

Coucou

– From: coucouswissrestaurant

Address: 9 Craig Rd

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—12 pm to 2:30 pm, 6 pm to 11 pm

Contact Number: +6562260060

Website

It’s hard to find restaurants serving Swiss cuisine in Singapore, so you can imagine how delighted I was when I learned about Coucou.

It won’t be an authentic Swiss dining experience without a fondue, so order one when you’re here. I love how the cheeses taste mild and sweet, even nutty at times. I can never stop dipping cold cuts and fruits into the bowl!

Pro Tip:

  • If you want to book a private dinner, you have to send an email to [email protected] or contact the restaurant via phone.

If you’re exploring Gardens by the Bay, then you have to check out Marguerite. This restaurant is located inside the Flower Dome, so its theme is floral and garden-esque. It’s super gorgeous and makes you feel like you’re in a whimsical fairytale.

The menus here are prix fixe with multiple courses, so you’ll definitely come out full and satisfied. I usually come here for dinner, and the standout dish is the duck and cherry. I love the sweet-savoury combination, and the cherry adds a sour kick that elevates the dish.

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant is perfect for a special celebration, such as intimate solemnisation, wedding receptions, soirees, and more.

Website

Simple and elegant is the main theme of Etna Italian Restaurant. As for the food, you can expect classic Italian dishes made with the finest ingredients imported all the way from Italy!

I always go all out on the pasta here. My favourite is the Ravioli ai Crostacei, which is made with shellfish ravioli in fish stock reduction. It has a striking umami flavour with notes of sweet and buttery, thanks to all the lobster meat.

Pro Tip:

  • Hold your special event at Etna. Both the Duxton and East Coast outlets can seat up to 70 people.

Tucked away on Harding Road, Atout is perfect for people who prefer dining in relative solitude. It has a rustic atmosphere, making you pretend that you’re somewhere in a French rural district.

I recommend ordering any of the beef and veal dishes. I personally love the beef short ribs, which have been braised in red wine, so they have a lovely bittersweet, almost floral flavour. It’s also served with polenta, which is super creamy and buttery.

Pro Tips:

  • If you’re ordering the set menu, I recommend adding a glass of wine or mimosa (it costs extra).
  • Host a private dinner here or book an event space for a large gathering.

Brasserie is a popular restaurant back in Stockholm, Sweden, so I was happy to discover that it now has an outlet here in Singapore. This restaurant takes a new spin on Swedish brasserie classics, served in a cosy ambient dining space.

I love ordering the Astoria Fried Chicken, which has buttermilk fried chicken, mac and cheese, and corn velouté (a type of sauce). It’s such a hearty meal, and I always feel like I’m ready to go into a coma after eating this.

Pro Tip:

FOC Restaurant

Operating Hours

  • Tuesday to Thursday—12 pm to 11:30 pm

FOC Restaurant always has a vibrant energy. You can see and hear the kitchen staff bustling about making the dishes, and the dining area is full of noise from all the chatter. My friend tells me it’s like dining in a Barcelona restaurant, so in a way, the experience is authentic.

Since this is a Spanish restaurant, you must try any of the paellas. I love the Senyoret Paella, which is loaded with Argentinian prawns, Hokkaido scallops, and baby squids. It smells so good, and the flavour profile is bold—tangy and sweet, with a bit of spice.

Pro Tip:

  • For an intimate dining experience with your group, you can book the restaurant’s private dining room. Just take note that the maximum number is six guests.

If you’re a foodie who loves watching food-related reality shows, chances are you’re already familiar with—and even a fan of—Gordon Ramsay. If so, you’ll be delighted to know that one of his restaurants, Bread Street Kitchen, is here in Singapore.

Understandably, the beef Wellington—which is also his signature dish—is the main star here. The meat is perfectly medium-rare and tastes wonderfully rich and savoury. It’s served with creamy mashed potatoes and red wine jus that adds floral notes to every bite.

Pro Tip:

  • Take a seat on the patio area so that you can enjoy the views of Marina Bay while eating here.

Eastern European cuisine deserves more love, and that’s why I’ll forever be grateful that Kapitan.sg exists. This restaurant takes me on a gastronomy journey across Eastern Europe, and I love it every time!

I recommend getting a platter of all the different pelmeni and pierogi (Russian and Ukrainian/Polish dumplings). I love the ones with wild hog filling because their flavour is intense and nutty with a kick of spice.
