The Best Spots for Korean Fried Chicken in Singapore (I Started Going to After Watching a K-Drama)

When I watched the Korean drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, the scenes where the characters indulged in Korean-style fried chicken stood out to me. I felt my stomach grumbling and my mouth drooling just at the sight!

This ignited my craving for this dish, and since then, I’ve tried as many as I could find on the island with a few recommendations from friends.

If you also find yourself dreaming about Korean fried chicken after watching a show, hit up these restaurants!

BHC Chicken Singapore

Address: 6 Raffles Blvd, #02-332A/332F Marina Square

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 10 pm

Website

BHC (stands for Better and Happier Choice) Chicken Singapore is probably the most popular Korean fried chicken spot in the country, and it’s not a surprise why. After all, this is a well-known South Korean restaurant chain, so expect authentic flavors here!

My go-to order here is the bburinkle chicken, which is also the signature dish. The chicken pieces are incredibly crispy, and they’re coated with seasoned powder to add more flavor. Cheese is my favorite, but I also like the garlic seasoning.

Another one of my favorites off the menu is the Red King. This one is coated in a red, spicy sauce, and slices of red and green chili peppers add even more heat to every bite. I love eating this to see just how much spice I can tolerate!

Pro Tip:

  • Do take note that each location has a unique menu. Check these menus on the website beforehand so that you know which restaurant has your favorite items.

JINJJA Chicken

Address: 23 Serangoon Central, B2-60/61 NEX

Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—11 am to 8:30 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—11 am to 9 pm

Website

JINJJA Chicken is a trendy Korean restaurant that serves a wide variety of dishes in a colorful and casual setting. From what I’ve noticed, the bestsellers here are fried chicken and jjajangmyeon.

The fried chicken here is crispy and slathered with your preferred flavored sauce. I really like the yang nyeom sauce, which is sweet, sticky, and spicy. When I’m dining with friends, we like to get the Monster Sauce, which is mouth-numbingly spicy!

Aside from the chicken, I love to order the army stew as a side dish. The stew is seasoned with a lot of spices, so every sip is flavorful.

Pro Tip:

  • When the weather is hot outside, treat yourself to a bingsu (shaved ice dessert). There are seasonal flavors for this sweet treat, so try one when you can!

Oven and Fried Chicken

Address: 182 Telok Ayer St

Operating Hours

  • Monday to Friday—11:30 am to 2:30 pm, 5:30 pm to 2 am
  • Saturday—4 pm to 12 am

Contact Number: +6562225959

Website

Oven and Fried Chicken combines the brands of Okkudak and Ssaldak, two of the most popular chicken restaurants in Korea!

What I like about this restaurant is that their chicken is cooked through baking, making it healthier in some way. Even though they don’t use oil, the chicken is still crispy, and the delectable sauce perfectly coats each piece.

I like the yang nyeom chicken, which tastes both sweet and spicy. The sauced jambalaya is also a great choice because the sweet, sour, and spicy flavors complement each other well.

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant tends to attract long queues, especially on the weekends, so I recommend coming here as early as possible. You can also book a reservation via phone or email (at [email protected]).

If you’re in East Singapore, then one place you should check out is K-Chicken!

There’s a wide variety of chicken dishes here. If we’re talking about fried chicken, I have to say my favorite is the honey butter chicken. Every piece is sweet and savory. I prefer ordering the boneless option so that I’ll have an easier time eating the pieces.

If you prefer roasted chicken, you might like their version of roasted ginseng chicken. It has that smoky flavor that pairs really well with the sweetness of Korean rice.

Pro Tip:

  • If you’re eating with other people, this restaurant offers special set meals that are perfect for groups.

Kko Kko Na Ra

Address: 68 Tg Pagar Rd

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—12 pm to 1 am

Contact Number: +6562259282

Website

Kko Kko Na Ra is a fried chicken restaurant that’s owned by a Korean family, so you just know that the food here is the real deal!

I’m a big fan of the mala chicken. The chicken is perfectly tender and juicy, and the sauce reminds me of Sichuan-style sauce because it’s mouth-numbingly spicy! I have to drink lots of milk to kill the heat!

Pair your fried chicken with a few other popular Korean street foods. Personally, I love eating tteokbokki and gimbap (rice, vegetables, and meat wrapped up inside a seaweed roll).

Pro Tip:

  • There are several flavor options for fried chicken here. If you struggle just choosing one, order the combo, which lets you get two flavors.

88 Chicken

Address: 2 Tai Thong Cres, #01-24 The Venue Shoppes

Operating Hours: Wednesday to Monday—11:30 am to 2:30 pm, 5:30 to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6582238532

Website

Located in one of the most beloved shopping malls in Singapore (The Venue Shoppes), 88 Chicken is a casual spot that’s perfect for group hangouts. This restaurant is owned by a Korean couple, and they make sure to use family recipes.

My favorite chicken flavor is the Cheetos one. It tastes just as cheesy as the beloved junk food! I also love the soy sauce chicken because it tastes savory and tangy.

Aside from chicken, I order kimchi stew as a side dish. The heat from the stew is a great antidote for the greasiness, and I also like munching on the soft tofu and succulent pork pieces.

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant has limited seats, so it gets fully booked easily. If you don’t want to get stuck in a queue, I recommend coming here as soon as the restaurant opens.

Daily Beer

Address: 212 Telok Ayer St

Operating Hours

  • Sunday to Thursday—11:30 am to 11 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—11:30 am to 12:30 am

Contact Number: +6566698090

Website

For Koreans, chicken and beer are the ultimate duo, and if you’re in the mood to treat yourself to this, Daily Beer, located in Telok Ayer, is the place to go.

I like to get the Angry Bird (Red) Chicken because every chicken piece is savory with a strong spicy kick. The Angry Bird (Crunch) is also a great one. It’s spicy with a sprinkle of corn flakes to add crunch.

Of course, let’s not forget about the beer. There are several good options here, such as the K-Ginseng Lager and Kampong Pilsner. If you don’t drink beer, don’t worry because there are a few non-alcoholic options available as well.

Pro Tip:

  • Don’t know which flavor to get? Order half-and-half instead! It lets you choose two flavors for the price of one!

Basasak Chicken

Address: 973 Upper Serangoon Rd

Operating Hours

  • Friday—5:30 pm to 12:30 am
  • Saturday—5 pm to 12:30 am

Website

It’s easy to overlook Basasak Chicken because it’s wedged between different stalls. But when you spot it, be sure to try it because it has several authentic Korean dishes sold at affordable prices!

I recommend getting the wasabi mayo chicken. It tastes sweet and creamy at first, and then the heat creeps up on you to the point that you can feel your nose tingling. I also like the soy garlic chicken because it’s so fragrant and finger-licking good.

In addition to the chicken, be sure to get a few other Korean treats. I like to get tteokbokki because I enjoy chewing the rice cake and the army stew because the hot, spicy broth gets rid of the greasiness fast.

Pro Tip:

  • I recommend coming here during the day because it gets super packed in the evenings.

Waker Chicken

Address: Block 40 Holland Dr

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 9 pm

Contact Number: +6596988865

Linktree

Also known as Wow, Big Chicken, Waker Chicken is a fried chicken spot known for its affordable prices. As if that’s not good enough, they always use fresh chicken and premium ingredients imported all the way from Korea!

My favorite flavor to order here is the honey butter chicken. Technically, the flavor comes from the powder sprinkled on the chicken, but it tastes so good. It’s sweet with a hint of milky flavor.

This restaurant also has chicken tenders. I like the honey butter flavor for these, but the sweet and spicy flavor is also a great choice.

Pro Tip:

  • If you’re dining with a group, there are party feast options that include chicken and side dishes.

Pink Candy

Address: 144 Upper Bukit Timah Rd #04-60 Beauty World Centre

Operating Hours:

  • Wednesday to Monday—10:30 am to 2:30 pm, 5 to 9:30 pm
  • Tuesday—5 to 9:30 pm

Contact Number: +6591702365

Website

Did you know you can find stalls selling Korean cuisine at hawker centers? One perfect example is Pink Candy, which is located at Beauty World Center.

One thing I love about this stall is that it’s on the rooftop, so you can enjoy the fresh breeze and beautiful view while eating your meal!

Of course, the food is great as well. I think their best flavor is the soy sauce fried chicken. The sauce is sweet with a bit of umami. If you’re not careful, you might end up devouring the whole basket yourself!

If you want a break from fried chicken, I recommend trying the ginseng chicken as well. The chicken is cooked in a rich, herbal broth, and I love sipping bowls of it during rainy days to warm myself.

Pro Tip:

  • This stall often has a long queue, so I avoid coming here during peak hours (lunch and dinner time). Arriving as early as possible is recommended.

Hanjip Korean Grill House

Address: 3C River Valley Rd, #01 – 11 Clarke Quay

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—12 to 2:30 pm, 5 pm to 12 am

Contact Number: +6588829011

Website

Located in the heart of Clarke Quay, Hanjip is mostly known as a Korean BBQ restaurant, but it’s also a wonderful spot for Korean-style fried chicken!

From my experience, this restaurant only has two flavors of fried chicken: original and soy. But I don’t mind this because both options are delicious! They’re so crispy, and the meat is so tender, and the soy chicken, in particular, is sweet and savory.

You have to take advantage of the BBQ set as well. You can enjoy different types of meat, such as Wagyu striploin and USDA prime rib, and a wide variety of side dishes like cheese egg rolls and Korean-style pancakes.

Pro Tip:

Goobne

Address: 1 Pasir Ris Cl, #02-324

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11:30 am to 9:30 pm

Contact Number: +6592485020

Website

If you’re feeling guilty eating Korean fried chicken because it’s cooked in oil, you might like dining at Goobne instead. This restaurant cooks their chicken in the oven, making it a lot healthier!

I recommend trying the Galbi Boneless Chicken. It has that smoky, charred taste of barbeque, and the sauce adds a layer of sweetness that elevates the whole dish. There’s even a hint of fruitiness since the sauce is made with a few domestic fruits.

I love pairing my fried chicken with kimchi fried rice. The rice is perfectly fluffy, plus the kimchi adds a bit of sourness and spiciness, a flavor combination that complements the sweet notes of the chicken.

Pro Tip:

  • Sometimes, their website offers limited-time promotions like free kimchi on your order or a discount. Take advantage of them when you can!
