Travel in comfort & style with the best luxury bus companies to Singapore from KL
Traveling between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore is easy because there are many options. I’ve tried riding the cheapest bus and the cheapest train for many hours. I’ve even tried walking the JB Causeway (very fun but very tiring as well)!
But after trying different transport methods between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, I’ve come to realize that I prefer luxury buses the most.
With luxury buses, I get to travel in style and comfort. Wi-Fi is available, and I can recline my seat if I want to nap!
If you want to experience first-class travel from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, I wrote this guide for you.
Top Luxury Bus Companies from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore
Billion Stars Express
— From: ais.blender.coklat
Billion Stars Express is one of the most well-known bus companies in Malaysia. They mostly provide trips in the country’s northern area, but they also offer rides to other places, such as Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Kuala Besut, and Singapore.
This company also has buses in different sizes. The single-deck buses—with 27, 30, and 40 seats—are the most common, but if you really want the best experience, I recommend the double-decker with 45 seats because it has more space.
What I like about the Billion Stars Express’s luxury bus is that the seats have enough legroom, so I don’t feel cramped. There’s also free Wi-Fi, allowing me to stream movies or listen to podcasts, and when my phone is about to die, I can change it on the port.
I can also recline my seat to an almost lying position (so long as the person behind you won’t mind)! I greatly appreciate this because I like to nap on long trips.
Luxury Coach Service
Luxury Coach Service is based in Singapore, but it offers trips to and from different parts of Malaysia, including Malacca and Kuala Lumpur.
The luxury buses of this company are noted for their cleanliness and spaciousness. The seats can also be reclined, allowing you to take a nap.
If you don’t want to take a nap, you can stream movies or scroll through social media using the free Wi-Fi
But my favorite thing about Luxury Coach Service is how friendly and understanding the staff is. We initially missed our bus at the designated time, and when we contacted customer support, they were quick to book us on the next bus.
Aeroline
What I like the most about Aeroline is that they offer perks you would normally get when flying on a plane. On one trip, at some point, I momentarily forgot that I was riding a bus!
Each seat on the bus has a screen with a varied selection of movies, shows, documentaries, and more. Music channels are also available.
If you’re not feeling any of the available options, you can connect to the Wi-Fi and stream something on Netflix.
You’ll also be served meals and drinks throughout the trip! You’ll really feel like a pampered royal when riding an Aeroline bus.
StarMart Express
Established in 1989, StarMart Express offers long-distance express bus services between Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. They also offer other services that will appeal to tourists, such as tour packages, bus charters, visa applications, and more.
The seats on this bus are spacious and comfortable. Even if you’re six feet tall, you can still find room to stretch.
If you want to enjoy a nap, you can recline your seat up to 120 degrees.
The seats also have built-in massage functions! It never occurred to me that I’d like to get a massage during a long bus ride, but now I’m a changed man. I hope more luxury buses will implement this feature in the future.
Super Nice Express
— From: rahimi.mirza
Super Nice Express is a popular bus operator in Singapore, with trips around the country and into different parts of Malaysia, such as Ipong, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur.
As you can expect from any luxury bus, the ones at Super Nice Express have comfortable seats and ample legroom. There’s also a television to entertain you, but you can also stream via Wi-Fi on your phone or laptop if you want a different movie.
What I like most about Super Nice Express’s luxury buses is the fact they’re noise-proofed, so you can’t really hear the traffic outside. I appreciate this feature because it allows me to nap with ease or get lost in any movie or show I’m watching.
Things to Know When Booking Your Luxury Bus Ticket
Where to Book
Booking a luxury bus ticket is pretty simple and straightforward. Depending on the service provider you choose, you can buy your ticket at their physical location, though it’s recommended that you book via their website.
The reason why it’s better to book via the website is your spot is already secured on your preferred date and time. If you buy a ticket at the last minute, you might get stuck in a long line, and your preferred time slot might already be fully booked.
Documents to Bring
You don’t really need a lot of documents when riding a luxury bus from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. The essential ones to keep in mind are any official ID and your passport (make sure it’s valid for at least six months before entering Singapore).
You might also need to prepare your valid visa if you hold a passport from any of the following countries:
- Afghanistan
- Algeria
- Armenia
- Azerbaijan
- Bangladesh
- Belarus
- Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
- Egypt
- Georgia
- India
- Iran
- Iraq
- Jordan
- Kazakhstan
- Kosovo
- Kyrgyzstan
- Lebanon
- Libya
- Mali
- Moldova
- Morocco
- Nigeria
- Pakistan
- People’s Republic of China (PRC)
- Russia
- Saudi Arabia
- Somalia
- South Sudan
- Sudan
- Syria
- Tajikistan
- Tunisia
- Turkmenistan
- Ukraine
- Uzbekistan
- Yemen
Another document you should bring is the SG Arrival Card. Technically, this is an e-card now, but basically, it’s where you jot down your arrival information and health declaration.
Other possible documents you might need to prepare before entering Singapore are your purchase receipts.
All arriving travelers are required to declare the goods they purchased outside of Singapore. If you purchased a few items in Malaysia in the last 48 hours that amount to S$100 or more, you’d have to pay 8% Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Even if the total of your purchases is less than $100, I’d still recommend you hold onto your receipts anyway. Sometimes, the excise officer will check, and to speed up the process, it’s best that you have the receipts on hand already.
Travel Time
The estimated travel time from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is about five hours. But that’s not a guarantee all the time because there’s still traffic in the urban places to consider, especially during after-work hours.
Because of this, it’s totally possible for a bus ride to last up to eight hours! Fortunately, this doesn’t happen often.
Packing Essentials and What to Wear
Since the bus ride from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore is a long one, you need to prepare for that. Here’s what I recommend:
- Loose-fitting clothes like your most comfortable pair of jeans and a soft T-shirt
- Jacket or shawl
- Pillow or neck pillow
- Light blanket
- Eye mask
- Extra snacks like a sandwich or your favorite junk food
