Why buy ceramics when you can make your own through the best pottery lessons in Singapore?
When I became an adult, one of the first things I noticed was how expensive furniture and houseware items are. I love collecting pretty jars, pots, and mugs, but when I saw the prices, I thought, “You know what? I’m going to make them myself!”
After all, how hard can it be? Apparently, a lot. Fortunately, there are many art studios offering pottery lessons in Singapore.
Eventually, I went from a newbie who knew nothing to an amateur with a pot-ential to be great (okay, I’ll see myself out). If you want to get into pottery as well, here are the studios I recommend!
The Potters’ Guilt
— From: thepottersguilt
Address: 195 Pearl’s Hill Terrace, #01-03
Operating Hours:
- Tuesday to Friday—1 to 9:30 pm
- Saturday—1 to 6 pm
The Potters’ Guilt is a haven for anyone who wants to dip their toes in 3D art. This studio offers pottery classes for all ages and all difficulty levels. There are even workshops dedicated to children!
I came here for the Basic Potters’ Wheel and Pottery on the Wheel Experience courses, which taught me all the fundamentals. In the future, I want to try the Sgraffito Workshop, which is the art of scratching the surface to reveal the lower layer.
Pro Tips:
- If you’re an alumni of this studio, you’re eligible for the Own Time Own Target (OTOT) program. This allows you to use the studio to hone your skills and create new ceramics.
- You can book a team-building event or a private session here.
Arudio Ceramic
— From: arudioceramic
Address: 14 Arumugam Rd, #08-07 LTC Building C
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—10 am to 6 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—10 am to 7 pm
Contact Number: +6588389256
What I love about Arudio Ceramic is that both wheel-throwing and hand-building (two different approaches to pottery) are featured here. Plus, all workshops include a free glazing session, so you can create several functional and pretty bowls, and/or cups.
The best part is you can bring your creations at home! Well, not immediately because they need some time to get fired up in the oven, but around 6 to 8 weeks from your workshop day, you’ll be able to get them.
Pro Tips:
- It’s recommended that you cut your fingernails before coming to your workshop. Doing so will make the session comfortable for you.
- Not sure if you want to commit to a multi-session course? You can book the trial experience class instead.
- You can also book the studio just to practice your skills and create new masterpieces.
Studio Asobi
— From: studioasobi
Address: 705 Hougang Ave 2, Block 705 HDB Hougang
Operating Hours: Wednesday and Saturday—10 am to 5 pm
Contact Number: +6565571644
Studio Asobi boasts a cozy setting, which I find is most conducive for learning pottery. The regular pottery workshop already includes clay and glazes and five sessions, so once everything is done, you have several cups and bowls to show off to loved ones.
This studio also has a program called The Potter’s House, which I love to book often. It’s a spiritual retreat that lets you work on your pottery skills for hours. It also comes with free-flow food and drinks and several entertainment options, so it’s a fun time!
Pro Tip:
- Book a pottery-themed team-building event here for a memorable time with co-workers!
Am I Addicted
— From: alexiscathxrine and amiaddicted.sg
Address: 181 Orchard Rd, #05-37 Orchard Central
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +6588523370
Am I Addicted is more than just an art studio; it’s also a community of like-minded folks. That’s why classes here tend to feel like hanging out with friends, which is why I love coming here.
This studio offers classic pottery classes, such as wheel throwing, hand building, and pottery painting. All these classes are beginner-friendly, so even children can follow the instructions easily.
But my favorite part about this studio is that they offer uniquely themed workshops. For example, I once attended a workshop on Korean pottery, which was an interesting experience. I learned how to create a Korean moon jar!
Pro Tips:
- You can book special events here, such as team bonding and kid’s parties.
- If you’re new to pottery, you might want to start your journey by attending a trial class first. It’s not free, but it definitely costs less than the typical pottery package.

What I like about Urth and Phire (aside from its name) is that the instructors here don’t adhere too much to traditional techniques. Instead, they encourage students to be experimental, so you’re free to create ceramics of all shapes and sizes!
The beginner classes teach you the basics, such as how to prepare your clay, how to trim a foot rim, how to apply glaze, and how to fire pottery. Then, the advanced course focuses on the more technical aspects, such as creating certain shapes.

Chung Siang Boon is a well-known ceramics artist whose masterpieces have been sold worldwide (some were even designated as state gifts for foreign officials!). So when I heard that he was opening a pottery school, I signed up immediately.
The classes are thorough in teaching the fundamentals, especially the different techniques of hand-building and wheel-throwing. I also appreciate the lessons on the nature of clay because understanding it saves me so much time and frustration.
There are also dedicated classes for children aged 14 and below. Perfect for your little ones who are interested in ceramics!

Terra and Ember is another studio located in Geylang, and it’s perfect for people who want to specialize in miniature pottery. If you don’t know, miniature pottery refers to trinkets, accessories, and pots for small plants.
Aside from mini pottery, this studio also teaches nomad pottery, which teaches you about the different pottery traditions across countries and continents. This is my favorite class to take because it’s kind of like a history lesson as well (and I like history).

- Sometimes, this ceramics studio offers discounts during important holidays, such as National Day.
- Practice your skills in peace by booking the studio on your free day.
Dirty Hands Only
— From: dirtyhandsonly
Address: 3 Mount Emily Rd
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Sunday—11 am to 6 pm
Contact Number: +6592724123
One of the main selling points of Dirty Hands Only is that it’s located on the rooftop. I know it doesn’t sound impressive, but it’s actually very nice to have a lovely view while trying to learn pottery. The experience is much more calming, somehow.
The classes are also perfect for casual potters or newbies because they don’t take multiple sessions. You can just learn the basics and then create your very own vessel over the weekend.
If you’re serious about pottery, there are also fully-fledged courses on wheel-throwing and hand-building.
Pro Tip:
- This studio offers open studio packages that let you use the space for your pottery needs. I recommend booking on a weekday because that’s when the price is cheaper.

There’s just something so therapeutic about doing pottery at the School of Clay Arts. Maybe it’s the minimalist interior or the warm vibes from the instructors and fellow students. Whatever it is, I love coming back here every chance I get.
Another thing that I love about this studio is that the classes only have a few students. Because of this, the instructors can give all of us the attention and feedback we need to improve.
