The Best Supermarkets in Singapore, According to Local Homemakers and Hobbyist Cooks
I work from home, which means that in my family, I’m the designated homemaker and cook. I don’t really mind this because I do love to cook and clean. I find these two activities relaxing (and the perfect excuse to procrastinate).
I’m also the one who does the grocery shopping. I usually stick to my go-to supermarkets, but sometimes, I ask my fellow homemakers and cooks for suggestions to branch out.
It turns out there are actually many amazing supermarkets and grocery stores in Singapore, and some of them even follow certain themes. So far, these are the ones I’ve tried and highly recommend.
CS Fresh at Cluny Court
From: coldstoragesg
Address: 501 Bukit Timah Rd, #01-02 Cluny Court
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +6567630815
Website
Located in Cluny Court, CS Fresh is my go-to supermarket, so unsurprisingly, I have to feature it on this list.
One thing I love about this supermarket is that it’s spacious, so you can find a wide variety of products. There are basic groceries like fruits and meat, but I can also find imported brands that I won’t find elsewhere.
I also like how they offer sushi and salad bowls. I tend to stock up on them just in case I need a quick snack at home.
Pro Tip: If you can’t stop by the store, you can shop online on their website instead. If your order exceeds S$80, you can enjoy free shipping.
FairPrice
From: fairpricesg
Address: 53 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, #B2-40, AMK Hub
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +6564532521
Website
FairPrice is actually one of the biggest supermarket chains in Singapore, making it a popular choice among locals. My favorite branch is the FairPrice Xtra located in Ang Mo Kio.
The reason I prefer FairPrice Xtra is simply its size. It’s much bigger than the typical FairPrice stores, so it can hold more than just groceries; it also has space for other items, such as electronics, household merchandise, and even electronics.
I also really like the FairPrice Finest stores, though I don’t often go there. FairPrice Finest, as the name suggests, is a premium branch that offers imported products. The one in Clarke Quay is the most popular option if you’re interested.
Pro Tip: FairPrice has a membership program called Digital Club. This program lets you enjoy perks, such as waived service fees, exclusive promotions, and points that you can use for future purchases.
Sheng Siong Supermarket
From: shengsiongsupermarket_official
Address: 506 Tampines Central 1, #01/02-361
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +6566361713
Website
If you live in an HDB property, chances are you come across a branch of Sheng Siong Supermarket. This is because this supermarket chain strategically places its stores near HDB blocks.
The great thing about this grocery store is that the prices are lower compared to their competitors, which is why I love coming here whenever I’m short on cash. They also have a great variety of products—from fresh produce to lifestyle products.
Sheng Siong is also perfect for senior citizens because, on top of the lowered prices, they can also avail of a 4% discount every Tuesday and Wednesday! Just keep in mind that this discount only applies to a maximum of S$200 on a single order.
Pro Tip: If you’re shopping on their website, you can enjoy free delivery if your order exceeds S$100.
Prime Supermarket
From: primesupermarketsg
Address: 823 Tampines Street 81, #01-160
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +6567854790
Website
Prime Supermarket started as a humble mini-mart, but eventually, it grew to become a full-fledged supermarket chain. Now, it has more than 24 outlets in the country, and my preferred branch is the one in Tampines.
Prime’s main advantage is that they offer fresh produce at lower prices compared to other supermarkets. There are two factors for these low prices: lower rental costs in the heartlands and the fact that the produce is locally sourced.
However, this supermarket also has a disadvantage: it doesn’t have a wide range of products. Keep that in mind when shopping here.
Pro Tip: Every Tuesday and Thursday, senior citizens can enjoy a 4% discount on their purchases.
Little Farms Market
From: littlefarms
Address: 491 River Valley Rd, #01-20
Operating Hours:
- Sunday to Thursday—7:30 am to 9:30 pm
- Friday and Saturday—7:30 am to 10 pm
Contact Number: +6531051154
Website
If you prefer to buy organic food, then Little Farms is the grocery store for you. This store sources its products from independent suppliers and farmers in Singapore, Europe, and Australia!
Little Farms Market doesn’t have the biggest space, but still, it comes with an impressive array of products. I love getting my fruits and vegetables here, as well as plant-based food kits and pastries for afternoon tea.
If you’re hungry after shopping, this market also has an on-site cafe. I love getting any of the salads and sweet treats. When I’m feeling adventurous, I order a cocktail instead of coffee or tea.
Pro Tip: If you’re a big fan of this market, you should sign up for the Avocado Club. Members enjoy fun perks, such as discounts, partner benefits, and more.
SuperNature
From: supernatureorganic
Address: 26 Dempsey Rd
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—8 am to 8 pm
Contact Number: +6568547399
Website
Located in the chic neighborhood of Dempsey Hill, SuperNature is another popular supermarket for organic food enthusiasts.
This store has typical grocery items (fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy), but it also has specialty products for people with dietary restrictions. You can also find a dedicated section for kid-friendly items, which is why this store is popular among families.
I personally love coming here to browse their pantry selection, which has snacks and packed organic products.
Pro Tip: This grocery store holds events like educational webinars from time to time. Attend one when you can!

I’ve only heard about Ryan’s Grocery from my friends who follow specific diets. Intrigued, I finally decided to check it out one day, and now it’s become one of my go-to supermarkets.
This store’s specialty is meat; you can find a great variety—from freshly sliced pork and beef to cured and deli meats. I also love that there are ready-to-cook meat options; they’re perfect for whenever I’m feeling too lazy to prepare my food.
If you love pastries, you’ll be delighted to know that this store also has a bakery section. Treat yourself to different kinds of cookies and cakes!
Pro Tip: Don’t know what to cook for lunch or dinner? The store’s website has a few recipes that you might want to try.
Melvados
From: melvados.sg
Address: 3 Simei Street 6, #04-15, Eastpoint Mall
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10:30 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +6569098720
Website
If you have a sweet tooth like me, then Melvados should be one of your grocery stops.
Technically, Melvados is an ice cream brand—and halal, too!—so you can expect to find different flavors of ice cream here. Aside from that, there are also cakes, cookies, and brownies, which pair perfectly with your chosen ice cream.
But desserts aren’t the only things this store sells. There are also ready-to-eat meals (for whenever you’re not in the mood to cook) and sugar-free treats (if you’re diabetic or just on a healthy diet).
Pro Tip: You can enjoy free delivery if you shop on the online store and your order’s total is above S$50.
Toko Warisan
From: tokowarisan.sg
Address: 1 Joo Chiat Road, 02-1015/1017 #1019 Joo Chiat Complex
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—10 am to 7:30 pm
Contact Number: +6585802145
Website
Toko Warisan used to be a mall retailer that printed cards for weddings and events like Hari Raya, and now it’s a supermarket chain specializing in products from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Turkey.
This store also sells halal frozen food. I usually go here to stock up on frozen poultry and seafood. There are also frozen finger food options, which I appreciate because I do love to snack occasionally but feel too lazy to prepare an elaborate meal.
If you’re Muslim, you can also come here to buy new prayer rugs, religious books, and attire for pilgrimage.
Pro Tip: If you shop online and your order exceeds S$99, you’re eligible for free delivery.
Rama Bear Mart
From: ramabearthaimart
Address: 73A Jln Besar
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11 am to 9:30 pm
Website
The best way to describe Rama Bear Mart is that it’s kind of like a Thai 7-Eleven. Here, you can find Thai products, usually snacks, that you won’t normally find in other Singaporean stores!
I love shopping for instant foods here. Some of my favorite snacks so far are fried catfish cakes, instant noodles, and instant coffee.
This shop also has other grocery items, such as fresh produce, skin care products, soaps, detergents, and more.
Pro Tip: This grocery has a mini cafe inside as well. I recommend the papaya salad and the iconic Thai milk tea!
Don Don Donki
From: donkisg
Address: 181 Orchard Road, #B2 01-10/30, 43 B1, #15-29/K7/K8 Orchard Central
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Contact Number: +6568344311
Website
I’ve only visited Don Don Donki a few times, but so far, it has become one of my favorite grocery stores ever. Fortunately, it has several locations in Singapore, so I don’t have to worry about having to travel far (though my go-to branch is in Orchard Central).
This charming little spot is filled with so many quirky items from Japan—from snacks with unique flavors to stationery items that you won’t normally find in Singapore. I usually go for the different instant ramen packets and Japanese curry blocks.
There are also beauty products here, which are actually pretty good. I sometimes buy lipstick or blush here when I’m too lazy to go to a beauty store.
Pro Tip: Some Don Don Donki stores have an in-house restaurant and bar. So, if you’re hungry after shopping, order a plate of Japanese curry or hearty umami udon.
Scarlett Supermarket
From: scarlettsupermarket
Address: 1 Park Rd, #02-70 People’s Park Complex
Operating Hours: Open 24 hours
Website
I love cooking Chinese dishes, but my goodness, they always require so many ingredients and spices, and I always run out of them. Fortunately, Scarlett Supermarket is here to save me every time.
This is the largest Chinese supermarket in the country, and currently, it has 19 outlets (three of them are open 24/7). No matter where you go, you can find the same items: from fresh fruits and vegetables to famous China-based brands like Haidilao.
I love stocking up on seasonings here—especially the different sauces used in Chinese cuisine—but I also buy instant noodles and different kinds of frozen food (frozen dumplings are always a must).
Pro Tips:
- If you’re a loyal patron, you might consider joining Scarlett’s membership program. You can earn points that will eventually convert to rebates later!
- This store hosts special promotions every week! Take advantage of these discounts whenever you can.
SO France
From: sofrancesg
Address: 7 Fraser Street Duo Galleria #01-51/56 Bugis MRT
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday—8 am to 9 pm
- Saturday and Sunday—9 am to 9 pm
Contact Number: +6569096449
Website
Whisk yourself away to France by visiting SO France at DUO Galleria! This gourmet store is stocked with over 1,000 products from different regions in France.
Of course, since this is a French store, I always head straight first to the cheese section. I love building my own charcuterie board, so I stock up on different cheeses. I also add fruit preserves, bread, and crackers because they pair well with the cheese!
Do keep in mind, though, that this store is on the higher end in terms of pricing. That’s why I only come here when I have extra money to spare.
Pro Tips:
- This store also doubles as a restaurant, so be sure to grab a bite after shopping. I recommend trying the braised chicken or the duck confit.
- If you’re shopping online and your order exceeds S$120, you’ll get free delivery.
