Escape the ordinary with the best immersive VR experiences in Singapore

Singaporeans are quick to embrace new technologies, and virtual reality fits well into the tech-forward culture of our city-state. Beyond gaming, VR is extensively used in educational institutions and industries for hands-on training in a controlled environment.

Are you intrigued with this tech? We share the top VR experiences in Singapore, including the best spots to play Beat Saber!

Sandbox VR is my top spot whenever my workmates and I need to blow off steam. We always have a blast with its immersive VR experience, taking down zombies and all manner of scary creatures.

The entire experience takes about an hour: 15 minutes for training and setup, half an hour in VR, and 15 minutes for debriefing and video highlights.

Aside from being a great place to vent, the games here activate my survival instincts. With themes like The Curse of Davy Jones and Deadwood Mansion, you’ll need to solve puzzles to progress or you might fail the mission at the end!

Pro-tip: If you’re into scares, try Deadwood Mansion. It’s truly frightening!

Zero Latency is awesome for team-building events. Plus, it’s a fun way to see how you’d handle a zombie breakout (spoiler: my colleagues said I screamed like a girl).

The headset is heavy, but you’ll forget about it during the game (though you might feel minor aches afterwards). It’s hard to believe the whole game took place in that room once you take it off.

And some good news for four-eyed people like yours truly: the goggles can be adjusted to improve your focus on the game!

Pro-tip: You’ll be running and moving around a lot, so wear comfy footwear.

V-Room

For those asking, you can play Beat Saber here! It’s the cheapest place for VR in Singapore I’ve found by far, priced by the hour per headset: S$24/hour on weekdays and S$30/hour on weekends/public holidays.

Oh, and each headset is sharable by two people! The staff allowed us to use four sets for the tutorial and were always ready to assist during the games, which was considerate and generous of them.

Pro-tip: Escape room fanatics will blow a gasket at the puzzling virtual escape rooms available here.

VR World Singapore

If you’re new to virtual reality, you’ll love VR World. The place has non-intimidating games perfect for beginners. My nephews had a blast with the Pyramid Escape game and Cook Out for arcade fun—both are great for first-timers!

When we got stumped at the puzzle games, the staff gave us hints at just the right moments but still let us figure things out so we could feel accomplished (heh!).

And for the scaredy-cats out there, VR World offers great alternatives for those who get anxious with time-based horror or shooter games.

Pro-tip: The place has lockers in case you drop by after work with bags.

The Escape Artist

Address: 1, 03-15 Maritime Square, Harbourfront Centre

Hours: Daily, 1.30–10 PM

Since I’m also a huge fan of escape rooms, it’s great to know that The Escape Artist also has virtual reality escape games to add an element of excitement. It helps me think outside the box and rewire my brain.

Some puzzles aren’t so obvious, but there’s always help if you need it. We played Night Before the Storm which featured three rooms, each getting progressively harder, but we managed to escape.

All the clues made sense, and it helped that the staff gave clear instructions before the start of the game.

Pro-tip: Cameras and mobile phones aren’t allowed in the escape rooms.

Overworld VR

What my friends and I like about Overworld VR is its cool range of VR games and packages to choose from. There are three gaming categories with various themes and genres, like shooting, horror, FPS, zombies, action, survival, and casual and rhythm games so there’s something for all ages and preferences.

Most of these are multiplayer, so you can bring friends and family for a fun arcade gaming experience in VR. Each game lasts from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

The staff are super accommodating, even if we were running late once.

Pro-tip: The air-conditioning here is quite chilly, so bring a jacket with you.

Go Virtual Reality

I went to a birthday party for a bunch of lively kids at Go Virtual Reality and I suspect I had more fun than the little ones! The staff did a great job keeping the kids (and me!) engaged with the VR activities.

The graphics were great, and the special treadmill lets players move freely and crouch without worrying about real-world obstacles (like other players). The handsets were very responsive too.

Pro-tip: Some games require socks, so bring your own or buy a pair for S$1.

Now for a refreshing change of pace: there’s ChangiVerse, which is informative as well as entertaining. ChangiVerse on Roblox lets users dive into Changi Airport’s vibrant spaces and uncover all its offerings, whether you’ve already been to the world’s best airport or not.

There are nifty prizes, too! The Changi Kart racing game allows the top racer to win a pair of air tickets, and players can level up, unlock new areas, and earn exclusive ChangiVerse wearables for their avatars.

Pro-tip: Check out ChangiVerse for Roblox here.

The Art Science Museum offers a VR application that goes beyond games. The VR gallery at the ArtScience Museum is a permanent feature, but the exhibits keep changing, so there’s always something new to see.

The exhibits are all about nature and science, and it’s a totally immersive VR experience. They use heart rate monitors, breath sensors, and body tracking to customise everything just for you. Now that’s immersive.

Pro-tip: The VR gallery is on level 4 of the museum.

Golden Village Funan

Hours: Movie showtime schedule

I finally got to try the VR pods at Golden Village Funan which is right in the foyer. It’s a perfect way to have a fun time before watching a movie. I played Beat Saber and was eyeing the Spider-Man game, but my time was up.

GV Funan is the only cinema with these virtual reality pods, and it’s a blast. It’s S$8 on weekdays and S$12 on weekends for a 15-minute session, which is a tad pricey but a good way to not get bored while waiting.

Pro-tip: Expect a queue at the VR pods, as there are only four of them at the moment.

Legion of Racers

If you’ve got the need for speed, check out Legion of Racers. With state-of-the-art tracks, high-quality equipment, and comfy seating for spectators, it’s perfect for all skill levels.

The place offers the unique experience of virtual racing from home, which is safe and exhilarating. It helps fuel my dreams of being a professional race car driver!

The wheels and pedals are top-notch, and there’s a huge variety of cars and tracks—from family cars to race cars. You can also race in the Singapore Grand Prix layout.

Pro-tip: Bring a couple of friends along to make it a really fun virtual racing experience.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable birthday bash, Hologate is the place to be! It’s not just any VR game spot—it’s a guaranteed hit with the kids and their friends.

The games at Hologate range from action-packed shooters to immersive quests, so there’s something for everyone. I like that there’s plenty of space to move around without bumping into anything.

For private parties, the multiplayer games add a fun social element, and the party host ensures everything runs smoothly.

Pro-tip: Approach the staff to suggest games based on your preference. They’re quite friendly.
