The Best Western Foods in Singapore: My Go-To Restaurants When I’m Craving Burger and Pasta

As much as I love Singaporean cuisine—and by extension, Asian cuisine—sometimes, I do find myself craving food from the West. There’s just something about the juicy burgers and creamy pasta dishes that always hit the spot for me!

Fortunately, there are a ton of Western restaurants here, so whether I’m in the mood for greasy American food or savory tapas from the Iberian peninsula, my cravings are always satisfied!

If you love these cuisines as much as I do, then you should check out the following restaurants!

P.S. Cafe

  • Sunday to Thursday—8 am to 10 pm
  • Friday and Saturday—8 am to 10:30 pm

P.S. Cafe is a cozy cafe hidden inside a clothing store, making it the perfect spot for casual hangouts with friends. As for the menu, you can expect it to contain your cafe classics like shoestring fries and puddings.

I love coming here for brunch, and my go-to order is the P.S. Steak. It’s a sandwich with Wagyu steak, cheddar, and caramelized onions, so it has a combination of sharp savoriness and subtle sweetness. It also comes with perfectly salty fries!

Pro Tips:

  • Every month, there are different chalkboard specials like their crispy soft shell crab and bacon-wrapped corn-fed chicken. Celebrate a special event at this restaurant.

I developed an obsession with fish and chips after watching so many British movies and shows, so now, every time I get a craving, I head to Big Fish Small Fish. In my opinion, this restaurant serves one of the best fish and chips in Singapore.

I like that I can choose what kind of fish to get with my order. I usually go with halibut because it has a mildly sweet taste, but salmon is great too. Another thing I like about this spot is that the sauces and chips are unlimited, so I really get full after eating here!

Pro Tip:

Website

Whenever I’m craving pasta, Osteria Mozza is one of the first places I check out. This Italian restaurant is unique in the sense that the flavors are a combination of traditional Italian cuisine and culinary influences from California!

The tagliolini pasta with Alaskan king crab is my favorite pasta dish here, but it’s so expensive, so I only get it during special events. The crab meat has a lovely subtle sweetness, and the saffron makes the sauce earthy and aromatic.

Pro Tip:

I’ve never visited Spain, but after trying Esquina, now I want to. This restaurant serves the very best of Spanish and Catalan cuisine!

The Carabinero Prawn Paella is a must-try. The lobster rice is so fluffy and sweet, and the Carabinero prawns are plump and juicy. The aioli also adds tangy, garlicky, and earthy flavors to the dish, making it even tastier for me.

Pro Tips:

  • If you can afford it, try the restaurant’s tasting menu. You’ll be served multiple meals, starting from snacks to delectable desserts.
  • If you’re planning an event with at least 10 guests, fill out this form to book your spot.

Another phenomenal Spanish restaurant you should try is La Tapería.

This spot also has amazing tapas, and one that I absolutely recommend is Croquetas de Jamón. It’s made with Jamón Ibérico, so every bite is an explosion of earthy, floral, and nutty flavors.

You should also try any of the paella options. My favorite so far is the Paella de Bogavante, which has lobster, saffron, runner beans, and tomato. It smells so good, and of course, it also tastes great—sweet and tangy at the same time.

Pro Tip:

  • Come here on Valentine’s Day with your partner and enjoy the exclusive tasting menu reserved for this special occasion!

Potato Head Singapore

— From: potatoheadsg

Website

Boasting a laid-back atmosphere, Potato Head is a great spot for romantic dates. Plus, it’s nestled on a rooftop, so you can enjoy the gorgeous view of the city while dining.

Burgers are the bestsellers here. Personally, I really love the Lambdango, which has a tender and juicy lamb patty. It also has charred tomato, mint salad, and guacamole, so it tastes savory with strong notes of tangy and acidic.

Don’t forget to try the special cocktails as well. Usually, I let the bartender decide what to serve me, and so far they haven’t disappointed me.

Pro Tip:

  • Potato Head also has a shop selling sustainable wear. Check their offerings to see if you want to buy something.

Alma by Juan Amador

Address: 22 Scotts Rd, Floor 1 Goodwood Park Hotel

Operating Hours: Tuesday to Saturday—12 to 2:30 pm, 6 to 10:30 pm

Contact Number: +6567359937

Website

Situated near Orchard Road, Alma by Juan Amador is a Michelin-starred restaurant that you have to try. This spot fuses Spanish and German cuisines together, and the result is a menu filled with aromatic dishes and innovative flavor combinations.

The menu here is prix fixe, which means you’ll be served multiple courses for a set price. I usually come here during dinner, and the highlight for me is the snow-aged A4 striploin with cocoa jus. The steak is succulent, and the sauce has a slight bitterness that somehow elevates the dish.

Pro Tip:

Josh’s Grill

Address: 200 Victoria Street #01-69 Bugis Junction

Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday—11:30 am to 10 pm

Contact Number: +6563378633

Website

I’m aware that dining at Josh’s Grill isn’t really healthy since I mostly consume steaks, prawns, and pasta here. But I don’t mind because everything is so good, and I deserve to treat myself!

Since I love coming here with my friends, I tend to order the Tomahawk steak because it’s absolutely massive. It’s always served with the perfect medium rare, and the beef sauce adds a touch of peppery flavor to every bite. Pair that with salty fries, and I’m in heaven!

Pro Tip:

  • This restaurant is very popular, so I recommend contacting via phone and reserving your spot beforehand.

Binomio

— From: binomiorestaurante

In Spanish, “binomio” refers to a pair or duo, so the restaurant Binomio is perfect for couples going on a romantic date night. That said, this place is also great for non-romantic gatherings, such as family dinners or casual hangouts with friends.

Tapas, or finger food, is the highlight here, and my ultimate recommendation is the Salmorejo Cordobés. It’s a chilled tomato cream with smoked sardines, and it’s such a refreshing treat. I also like how the sardines add a lovely charred flavor to the dish.

Pro Tips:

  • This restaurant also has a tasting menu. It’s quite pricey but definitely worth it.
  • There are different rooms here that are perfect as party venues. For more information, send an inquiry via email ([email protected]).

This French restaurant is best known for its steak, so I recommend getting that. It’s so tender and savory, and it comes with salty fries and green salad with walnuts, so you’ll feel full afterward.

End your meal on a sweet note by getting Paris-Brest. It’s a choux pastry with praline cream; I love how simple yet so satisfying it is. I can’t get enough!

COLLINS’ Great World is all about comfort foods, so I love coming here when I’m feeling stressed or it’s my cheat day.

I love getting the pesto pasta with smoked duck breast. The earthy, nutty flavors of the pesto mesh really well with the charred duck meat. It’s so addictive!

I also recommend ordering pizza here because the flavor combinations are always top-notch. So far, my favorite pizza is the one topped with arugula, parma ham, and burrata cheese. It’s salty, nutty, and savory!

Another popular restaurant in Marina Bay Sands is CUT by Wolfgang Puck. This is owned by a celebrity chef, which is why many customers always flock here.

In my opinion, seafood dishes are the best things on the menu. They use sustainably sourced sea creatures from different parts of the world—oysters from New Zealand, Alaskan king crabs and abalones from Jeju Island, and razor clams from Scotland.

I recommend getting the whole-roasted Maine lobster, which is served with black truffle sabayon. It’s rich and earthy, a flavor combination that complements the delicate sweetness of the lobster.

Bochinche is a steakhouse and bar that specializes in modern Argentine cuisine. The cuts of meat are sourced from Argentina, Spain, and Japan, and the chefs use traditional asado techniques in cooking the dishes.

You should get the Robbins Island, which is a dry-aged Wagyu bone-in striploin. This steak simply melts on my tongue like butter, and the flavor profile is incredibly rich. I love pairing this with blistered Padrón peppers for a strong kick of spice.
