Hunting for the Torii gates at Bukit Batok Hillside Park feels like stepping into a hidden chapter of history. These weathered remnants of Singapore’s past are tucked away along rugged trails, surrounded by dense greenery.

The journey isn’t for the faint-hearted—think uneven paths and a touch of adventure—but the sight of the Torii gates makes it all worth it.

Relaxing near the quarry pond at Bukit Batok Nature Park is pure serenity. The calm waters reflect the towering cliffs, creating a scene straight out of a postcard.

I’ve spent hours here, just soaking in the peace and chirping of birds. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after exploring the forested trails.

Visit the WWII memorial

Visiting the WWII memorial at Bukit Batok Hill is a sobering experience. The remnants of the shrine offer a glimpse into Singapore’s wartime past, surrounded by quiet forest.

Standing there, I couldn’t help but feel the weight of history. It’s a humbling reminder of the sacrifices made and a spot that truly makes you pause and reflect.

Go on a hike

Hiking at Bukit Batok Hill offers something for everyone. Stick to the easy paved trails with wooden boardwalks for a leisurely stroll, or take on the rugged, unmarked paths for a challenge.

I’ve tackled both (with kids in tow and without), and while the stone steps and steep inclines tested my endurance, the views made it worthwhile.

Spot stunning flora and fauna

Spotting flora and fauna at Bukit Batok is like stepping into a nature documentary. From towering fig trees to vibrant heliconias, the park is a plant lover’s dream.

On my visit, I even caught a glimpse of a crimson sunbird darting between the branches. Keep your eyes peeled. You might just spot monitor lizards or even a shy pangolin along the trails!

See Bukit Batok from the lookout points

The lookout point at Bukit Batok Hill is where you get the best views of the greenery and the stunning quarry pond. It’s not right at the quarry’s edge but from spots around the park where you can take it all in.

When I was there, I found myself just standing and soaking in the view. It’s so peaceful and calming.
