A Family-Fun Guide to KidsSTOP Singapore, Where Little Minds Play Big!
I recently took my little explorers to KidsSTOP, and they had a blast while secretly learning new things (a mom win!). They did all sorts of stuff there, including pilot a plane, dig for dino fossils, and other entertaining and educational activities.
It’s a place where kids can touch, play, and tinker while parents can watch over them in comfort and be assured they’re safe. So for fun minus the meltdowns, here’s a guide to KidsSTOP to help you plan the perfect day with the little ones!
What is KidsSTOP Singapore?
KidsSTOP opened on June 16, 2014, and is part of Science Centre Singapore. It’s designed for kids aged 18 months to 8 years old and aims to spark curiosity through hands-on learning and play.
The centre’s vision-mission is to make STEM exciting without kids even realising that they’re learning. It does so with fun activities like launching rockets and experimenting with water currents to engage little minds and hands to tinker, question, and explore.

What to See and Do
Learn about astronomy

Location: Flight & Space zone, main play area
My little astronaut was over the moon at the Flight & Space zone where he got to step into a kid-sized cockpit and pretend to fly among the stars. This space has interactive exhibits and even a real-life typhoon simulator!
It’s a stellar way to spark an early love for astronomy and science for all aspiring astronauts and pilots (and even those wishing to meet an alien or two).
Pro tip: Costumes will be provided in this zone, such as pilot jackets and astronaut gear.
Try your hand at construction

Location: Built Environment zone, main play area
If your child loves building, fixing, or (like mine) knocking things down, this hands-on construction zone is a must-visit. The Built Environment Zone can have them stacking bricks, hauling sand, and “drilling” into structures like little pros.
I loved watching my kid figure out how to balance walls and work with other kids while I secretly filmed him. It’s a great mix of play and problem-solving.
Pro tip: Kids can take advantage of the pint-sized tools, safety vests, and even a mini-crane in this area!
Climb a 9-metre-tall structure

Location: The Big Dream Climber, main play area
Before I could even say “Hold on tight!” my kids were already clambering halfway up the Big Dream Climber. After the initial parental anxiety, I must admit to feeling proud watching them navigate tunnels, rope bridges, and towering platforms 9 metres high.
It’s built for little ones who love climbing, exploring, and conquering heights. With soft landings and a maze of interconnected play zones, it’s the ideal spot for kids to burn energy and build confidence.
Pro tip: Dress the kids in comfortable flexible clothing with no parts that can snag or tear.
Understand human anatomy better

Location: Know Your Body, dedicated themed zone
Got a young doctor-in-making? They’ll likely be fascinated by the Know Your Body Zone which offers fun lessons on how the human body works in a hands-on exhibit form.
There, they can measure their own height and heartbeat and explore the digestive system in action. My kids even pieced together a life-sized skeleton and learned how the heart pumps in a mesmerising way.
Pro tip: Watch out for the giant nose that actually sneezes in this zone!
Explore animal sounds and activities

Location: Smaller World zone, sensory exploration space
If your child loves animals, sounds, and sensory play, don’t give the Smaller World zone a pass. It’s a spot where they can mimic animal calls and discover how different creatures from the animal kingdom move and live.
There, I watched my little one crawl through tunnels, match baby animals to their parents, and flap her arms like a bird. She was also enraptured with the buttons that, when pushed, produced animal sounds like meows and moos!
Pro tip: This zone is best for toddlers and younger kids (18 months to 4 years old).
Dig for dino fossils

Location: Dino Pit, dedicated themed zone
The Dino Pit is for little ones who love dinosaurs, digging, or just getting their hands dirty. It’s a hands-on excavation zone complete with buried fossils to uncover and mini shovels and brushes waiting to be used.
So if you have a budding paleontologist, let them brush away the sand in wide-eyed excitement and learn fascinating dinosaur facts in the process.
Pro tip: Shake out or brush your kids’ clothes before leaving the area if you don’t want to bring a mini fossil dig home.
Pretend to be a grocery shopper

Location: Supermarket and Cafe roleplay, dedicated themed zone
Kids who love role-playing and making “big kid” decisions have the Supermarket and Cafe zone to look forward to. It’s a mini-supermarket setup complete with tiny carts, rows of fruits, veggies, meat and fish, and even a barcode scanner!
It’s a great way for them to learn about food, money, and daily life in a fun way. They can pick “fresh” produce, learn to count money, and stock shelves like miniature adults.
Pro tip: The kids can also dress up as mini cashiers or shoppers complete with aprons and uniforms in this zone.
Understand seasonal changes

Location: Four Seasons, dedicated themed zone
Living in a tropical country leaves most Singaporean kids wondering how snow forms or how autumn looks, feels, and smells. Luckily, there’s a hands-on exhibit that brings weather and seasonal shifts to life with interactive displays and sensory experiences.
The Four Seasons Zone was especially fascinating for my kids as they felt fallen leaves crunch under their feet and had to bundle up for wintertime. It made them more aware of environmental changes beyond Singapore, too.
Pro tip: Encourage your child to touch, feel, and interact with each season for a fulfilling experience.
Join a science program

Location: Themed activity stations
We were lucky to participate in a TOTally Science program with its hands-on activities designed for curious little minds. Watching those tiny precious hands mix colours and experiment with real science concepts was like magic to a parent.
Sparking love for science can be made fun, as I discovered with these programs. So if your toddler loves tinkering, mixing, or asking endless questions that begin with “Why?” I suggest signing them up for one soon!
Pro tip: Check out the TOTally Science schedules and get slots here.
Celebrate a special occasion

Location: KidsSTOP party room, outdoor areas
Picture a birthday party where kids could dig for dinosaur fossils, fly planes, and even play scientists. KidsSTOP’s birthday party packages make all these possible with fun themes and hands-on activities, plus, zero cleanup for parents like me.
The kids can choose from themes like astronaut, mini-Einstein, builder, archaeologist, and more. The packages typically come with a birthday cake, goodie bags, and themed decorations, too.
Pro tip: Choose your party theme and book a birthday package here.
Bring home an educational souvenir

Location: Curiosity Shop, main entrance of Science Centre
You honestly can’t leave KidsSTOP without bringing some of that fun-meets-science experience home! The Curiosity Shop offers things like STEM toys, books, hands-on science kits, and themed merchandise to keep the curiosity spark going.
My kids picked a make-your-own volcano kit and a space-themed puzzle, and I’m proud to say they’re still hooked on the experiments and experiences they got from all the themed zones.
Pro tip: Curiosity Shop souvenirs range from S$5 to S$30 which suits most budgets.
Grab a quick drink or snack
Media from kidsstopsg
Location: Various spots at KidsSTOP
All that science can make anyone hungry (especially a child minder like yours truly)! Good thing there are vending machines in strategic places at KidsSTOP so a thirst quencher or light snack is always within reach.
These machines are great for a quick energy boost between all that climbing, digging, experimenting, building, and flying planes. There are cafes and restaurants nearby, too, but there’s a rule against bringing outside food and drinks.
Pro tip: The snacks and drinks are to be consumed near the vending machines only, not anywhere within the main play area or themed zones.
