Your Despicably Fun Guide to Minion Land Singapore!
I swore I was just tagging along for my kid cousins, but five minutes into Minion Land, I was singing “Banana!” with a churro in hand. Universal Studios Singapore really went all out with this themed park!
As a long-time Despicable Me fan, stepping into Gru’s world felt like going to the movies: chaotic, colourful, and full of yelling (the fun kind). It’s the park’s newest zone, launched in 2024, and I’m here to reveal why it’s worth all the hype.

What to See and Do
Pose with leafy Gru and the girls
Media from universalstudiossingapore
Location: Near the zone’s entrance
I couldn’t even step five feet in without a tiny voice yelling “Take my photo!” and ended up queueing to snap a picture of a…topiary. The leafy Gru and Girls plant sculpture near the entrance is basically the unofficial welcome committee to Minion Land.
They’ve got Gru brooding, the girls beaming, and leaves doing all the heavy lifting. It was a good, calm moment before the real mayhem began.
Get Minion training at Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
Media from domzyala
Location: At the heart of Gru’s Neighbourhood
Height requirement: Kids between 102 and 122 cm must be accompanied by an adult companion
At this attraction, we got zapped into Gru’s lab thinking it was a harmless tour. Next thing we knew, we were dodging lasers and banana peels as freshly recruited Minions!
It’s a full-blown 3D motion simulator ride complete with wild turns, flying gadgets, and Gru’s sass. The story kicks off with visitors “training” to be Minions, and it ends with chaos breaking loose (thanks, kids).
Ride the Buggie Boogie

Location: Adjacent to the Silly Swirly ride
Height requirement: Kids under 122 cm must be supervised by an adult
I thought this was just your typical carousel ride until DJ Carl dropped a remix, and my buggie started bopping to the beat. Buggie Boogie is like a disco in motion, with Minion madness swirling all around.
Kids, adults, and everyone in between can ride as long as they meet the required height. It’s accessible, silly, and surprisingly groovy for something that spins in circles.
Get on the Silly Swirly

Location: At the heart of the Super Silly Fun Land area
Height requirements: Guests must be at least 92 cm tall to ride. Kids between 92 and 122 cm must be accompanied by a supervising companion.
The kids and I hopped onto the Silly Swirly expecting a mellow spin and ended up soaring above Super Silly Fun Land like happy Minions on a sugar rush. The colours, the music, and the view make it feel like a theme park flyover in cartoon form.
Each seat swings out as the ride lifts off, spinning just fast enough to thrill and not terrify. It’s short, sweet, and has just enough swirl to earn its name!
Visit Gru’s Neighbourhood
Media from universalstudiossingapore
Location: Between Minion Marketplace and Super Silly Fun Land
Gru’s Neighbourhood nails the Despicable Me vibe with perfect lawns, crooked houses, and Minions popping out of nowhere like it’s just another Tuesday. We walked in for the photo ops but stayed for the mayhem.
The “Minute of Minion Mayhem” show had Gru’s daughters stealing the spotlight while the Minions hijacked the mic. It’s loud, fast, and totally on-brand!
Where to Eat, Drink, and Shop
Super Hungry Food Stand

Location: Within Super Silly Fun Land
Price: $$
At one point, we had to stop for a snack, and where else to do so but at Super Hungry Food Stand with its Minion-themed snacks and beverages? We walked away with a Minion burger each and a bright yellow slushie that looked like it was brewed in Gru’s lab.
There’s limited seating but loads of character there. It’s chaotic in the best way, like you would expect a food stand from the movies to be.
Pop-A-Nana
Media from universalstudiossingapore
Location: Within Super Silly Fun Land
Price: $
I never thought I’d need banana-flavoured popcorn until I tried the ones Pop-A-Nana was selling. The kids and I found ourselves eating it by the handful (it smells just like sugar and mischief!).
For S$10 a tub, it’s the kind of snack you buy to “just try” and end up guarding against grabby hands like a Minion hoarding bananas. Salted is an option, but let’s be real—you came here for the weird yellow stuff!
Sweet Surrender
Media from universalstudiossingapore
Location: Within Minion Marketplace
Price: $$
Sweet Surrender has everything for the true-blue (err, yellow?) Minion fan, from tees to exclusive collectables not found elsewhere. Don’t bother going in there to “browse” because you’ll walk out with a lighter wallet and probably a Bob plushie.
The kids had me buy them a banana-shaped candy tin. It felt like a good idea at the time, but the place is basically a Minion trap disguised as a candy-coloured gift shop.
Pop Store and Fun Store
Media from freaks_of_hhn
Location: Within Minion Marketplace
Price: $$
We were all set to get T-shirt souvenirs at the Pop Store, but came out wearing head-to-toe Minion fashion. You can find collared tees, scarves, and all kinds of loud shirts that a true Gru squad will blow a gasket over.
Then we hit the Fun Store and instantly lost track of time digging through goggles, plushies, and pouches we definitely didn’t need. It’s like a toy chest exploded, and we didn’t even pretend to resist!
