A Guide to Punggol Town Square’s Family-Friendly Fun

During my first time there, I was pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly it blends modern conveniences with the tranquillity of the nearby waterway. It’s a great place to explore, shop, or simply soak in the atmosphere, so let me share its ins and outs.

What to Do
Explore the Punggol Waterway Park
— Media from jacquikyl
Punggol Waterway Park is full of little surprises that make it worth exploring. There’s a Nature Cove area where you can spot various bird species if you’re lucky, and the Heritage Zone offers a glimpse into Punggol’s past with its heritage trail markers.
The park is directly connected to the town square, so you can easily transition from the urban space of the square to the natural beauty of the park in just a few minutes on foot.
Catch a movie at Shaw Theatres

One thing that stands out at Shaw Theatres in Punggol is the variety of options they offer. Besides the standard screens, they also have premium formats like the Lumiere Hall, where you can enjoy extra plush seating and a more intimate viewing experience.
The theatre’s state-of-the-art sound and projection make every film, whether a blockbuster or drama, an exceptional experience. I remember my first movie there. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring Punggol.
Visit the Punggol Container Park
— Media from chiaming.ho
Punggol Container Park is a collection of repurposed shipping containers turned into vibrant eateries and bars, each with its distinct character. It offers a refreshing change from the usual mall dining.
The variety of food is great too, whether you’re craving a juicy burger, some fresh seafood, or just a cold beer. The outdoor seating, with its mix of rustic tables and fairy lights, makes it the perfect spot to relax and people-watch.
Have a picnic

There’s something incredibly relaxing about spreading out a blanket under a shady tree, with the gentle sounds of the water flowing nearby. I usually like to set up near the Nature Cove area, where the view of the waterway is particularly stunning.
If you’re planning to bring more than just snacks, there are convenience stores nearby at Waterway Point where you can grab last-minute picnic essentials like drinks or desserts. Don’t forget to pack a portable fan or insect repellent, especially if you’re staying in the evening.
Take the Punggol Heritage Trail
— Media from straits_times
The Punggol Heritage Trail is a self-guided walking trail that takes you through significant historical and cultural sites in the Punggol area. Informative panels along the path tell the story of its transformation from plantations and pig farms to today’s vibrant waterfront town.
I started the trail at Punggol Point, where its fishing village past echoes are still felt. As I walked, the contrast between modern developments and Punggol’s rural roots was striking.
Enjoy the indoor playground

Taking my little niece to the indoor playground at Waterway Point has become a regular treat, especially on those rainy days when outdoor play isn’t an option. It has themed play areas that are visually stimulating and encourage imaginative play.
Kids can explore different environments, each designed to spark creativity and adventure. I was amazed at how well-designed the space was—not just fun for kids but also safe and clean, which is a big relief for any parent or guardian.
Join a community event

One of the things I love most about Punggol Town Square is how it truly brings the community together through various events. The first time I attended a weekend market there, I was impressed by the lively atmosphere.
The square was buzzing with energy as local vendors set up stalls selling everything from handmade crafts to delicious street food. I remember picking up some unique handcrafted jewellery and enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee from a local café.
Dine by the water at al fresco restaurants

While there are no official Punggol Town Square restaurants, the square is adjacent to Waterway Point Mall, which offers a wide variety of dining options. It gives people the chance to enjoy a meal while taking in the view of the calm waters.
A favourite of mine is Frienzie Bar & Bistro. It’s a bit further along the waterway, but it’s worth the short walk for a relaxed evening with friends. The outdoor seating area is perfect for unwinding with a drink in hand as the sun sets.

The roasted duck at Dian Xiao Er is why my family and I keep returning. The tender meat and crispy skin are palate-pleasers. The clay pot boneless chicken is also packed with flavour, so ordering it on its own is the right move.
Another must-try is the seafood XO fried rice. It has a delicious smoky wok flavour with plenty of prawns and cuttlefish so you know you’re getting value for your money.

I go to Fish & Co. for the crispy, golden-brown dory, served with your choice of sauce. The fish is perfectly cooked—crispy outside, tender inside, and not fishy at all.
The meal comes with chips (not fries) or the veggie of the day, like tomatoes with bacon and pesto. Seafood lovers will also enjoy the hearty platter with prawns, mussels, squid and more!

After an event at Punggol Town Square, I satisfy my Mexican food cravings at Guzman y Gomez. The grilled chicken burrito bowl is always flavourful, with creamy guacamole and a kick from the salsa.

Monster Curry offers a modern Japanese vibe with a calm ambience, perfect for intimate dates or families with sleepy little ones. The “monster” likely refers to the large portions, great for sharing.
The flavourful curry sauce comes in generous amounts, with adjustable spice levels (the levels are marked by a corresponding number of hearts). The karaage chicken was crispy outside and moist inside, and the shrimp was equally tasty.

I recently popped into Novela at Waterway Point, and it was like walking into a beauty lover’s paradise. The store is packed with an impressive range of skincare and makeup products, and I immediately gravitated towards the extensive collection of K-beauty brands.
The staff were incredibly helpful, guiding me to the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Cream when I mentioned my sensitive skin. They even threw in a few samples to try at home! It’s now my favourite spot for beauty shopping. I always leave with something new to love.

I was on the hunt for comfortable yet stylish lingerie, and the Sorella staff immediately recommended the Luxe Lace bra. The fit was perfect—supportive without being too tight, and the lace detail added a touch of elegance.
I also picked up some seamless everyday panties, which are incredibly soft and practically invisible under clothing. It’s hard to find something that combines comfort with style, but Sorella nailed it.
