A Relaxing Seaside Guide to the Raffles Marina Lighthouse
I don’t really venture out to West Singapore simply because it’s too far from where I live, but when I do, I always try to go to the Raffles Marina Lighthouse. It’s a peaceful spot with a gorgeous view of the Johor Strait, making it a perfect place to relax.

The Raffles Marina Lighthouse was constructed in 1994 at the tip of Raffles Marina’s breakwater. This 12-meter-tall lighthouse overlooks the Tuas Second Link, which is the second causeway to Malaysia (the first being the JB Causeway).
The lighthouse is privately maintained, the only one that’s not owned and operated by the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore. It’s been a popular venue for special events, especially weddings.
How to Get to Raffles Marina Lighthouse
By MRT: Since the Raffles Marina Lighthouse is far from the city center, riding the MRT is the best way to reach it. Board the train from the Raffles Place station (East-West Line), then alight at the Tuas Link station. From there, take a 10-minute walk to the destination.
By Car: If you choose to drive to the lighthouse, Raffles Marina has a car park with over 200 spots. The fee is S$2 per hour (for cars) or S$0.60 per hour (for motorcycles).
Rules to Remember

If you’re visiting the lighthouse, be sure to keep in mind the following rules:
- Setting up picnics along the breakwater isn’t allowed.
- Bicycles and personal mobility devices are also not allowed on the breakwater.
- Don’t sit on the edge of the seawall.
- If you want to fly a drone, you have to ask for permission from the Raffles Marina Club. You need to get their written consent and approvals from the relevant authorities.
What to Do
Enjoy a romantic stroll
— From: rafflesmarina
The lighthouse is located at the end of the pier, which is a decent distance from the Raffles Marina main building. Because of this, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a leisurely stroll.
The cool sea breeze is also there to whip up your hair and caress your face, and if you’re like me, you can take this opportunity to pretend like you’re in a music video.
That said, I recommend strolling here in the late afternoon because the heat isn’t too bad then.
Cherish the view of the sunset
— From: rafflesmarina
Considering its optimal location in the west, the lighthouse is a great spot for watching the sunset. The sun sets behind the skyline of Johor Bahru, Malaysia, so while the sky looks like a golden explosion, the cityscape takes on a shadowed blue.
I don’t think my words can do the scene justice. No matter how many times I catch the sunset here, I’m still always in awe.
Film a video or have a photoshoot
— From: rafflesmarina
Because of the gorgeous view, the lighthouse is a popular venue for commercial filming and photoshoots, especially for weddings.
If you are planning on filming a video or taking some professional photos, you need to contact The Club first because there will be a fee. Wedding photoshoots usually cost S$350 per three hours, while commercial ones depend on a case-by-case basis.
For more information, you should contact The Club via email ([email protected]). You can also call them (+6568691808).
