At Le Shrimp Ramen, we witnessed the yummy fusion of Chinese and Japanese cultures through a simple yet flavourful menu. Fellow shrimp and prawn lovers will blow a gasket here.

The broth’s enticing orange hue results from a harmony of shrimp, prawns, and spices. A bonus for the complexion-conscious: the tonkatsu broth boasts a rich, creamy texture from simmering with pork bones for hours, resulting in collagen-rich slurps.

Pro-tip: Weekend lunch hours can get crowded, but the service is speedy and there’s a QR code for convenient ordering.

At Belle-Ville Pancake & Coffee, a Japanese souffle pancake cafe, we enjoyed made-to-order jiggly pancake stacks with silky fresh cream. They were perfectly paired with Okinawa black tea.

The Millefeuille Pancakes offer a delightful bite, and our tea was served with a unique touch—a pot accompanied by a minute sand clock to ensure perfect brewing!

Pro-tip: The coffee can be served with an option of soy or oat milk.

The heart and flavour of Indonesia can be found right smack in the retail hub, VivoCity. For a touch of authenticity, the fragrant yellow rice and Ayam Penyet (smashed fried chicken) are must-tries.

And chilli heads, take heart! The chilli is free-flowing here, so get your tastebuds in gear.

Pro-tip: Menu items don’t include rice; you’ll need to order it separately.

It’s great to have a family-friendly restaurant inside a shopping mall that doesn’t just serve greasy fast food fare. At Elfuego, Chilean seabass and other imaginatively curated European Halal fare take centre stage.

But it’s not all just meat and fish here. There are roasted root vegetables, tofu dishes, artichoke soup, and a beautifully plated zucchini blossom offering for those who prefer their meals plant-based.

Pro-tip: Got little ones in tow? There’s a great kids’ menu available here too!

How does a robot server bringing you your order of a gourmet burger appeal to you? At HANS IM GLÜCK German Burgergrill, waiters on wheels will cheerfully bring you your meal and tell you to enjoy it!

Aside from this novelty, there’s a good selection of grub and beer here. The usual German fare of sausages, mushroom soup, and fries are available, but there are surprisingly lots of vegan and vegetarian options, too.

Pro-tip: Asked to be strategically seated so you’ll have a nice view of the water.

An English pub right smack in a Singapore mall? Indeed, The Queen & Mangosteen exists, complete with brick walls, well-cushioned benches, and even a gallery with British-themed merchandise.

As for the food, we had the couscous which had a refreshing lemon flavour and went well with the flakey, perfectly seasoned haddock. Set lunches already come with a beverage, which is a plus for us.

Pro-tip: It’s a kid-friendly pub: there’s a pack with stencils, paper, and coloured pencils to keep kids busy while waiting for their food.

At Waa Cow!, you can indulge in some flame-torched Wagyu beef rice bowls and other creative Japanese fare. Fair warning: there’s some pretty intense flavours going on in most of the dishes!

If you’re feeling especially indulgent, try the Truffle Royale Don. It features caviar, ikura, and premium Wagyu slices on truffle rice, with some crunchy asparagus on the side.

Pro-tip: Not a fan of beef? There are seafood and chicken options on the menu too.

Nasty Cookie aims to treat those with a serious sweet tooth, but there’s nothing nasty about its premises. The store features an eye-pleasing contrast of Tiffany blue and baby pink.

Inside glass shelves, rows upon rows of freshly baked cookies, tarts, and s’mores vie for dessert lovers’ attention. Cookies can be bought by the box or a la carte, and they’re big enough to share if don’t want to be a Cookie Monster about sweets!

Pro-tip: All cookies are vegetarian-friendly, except OH! Smores, which contain halal beef gelatin.

Tapas Club

Tapas Club showcases classic Spanish flavours, including dishes like potatoes with brava sauce, seafood and chicken paella, Argentinian beef steak, and garlic prawns. It’s a great place to dine al fresco with a view of Sentosa.

Expect some of the menu items to be as rich as they come—take the Ibérico Pork collar, for instance—but it’s surprisingly not cloying. Perhaps the refreshing side serving of pickled cauliflower florets has something to do with it.

Pro-tip: There are imaginative cocktails and spritzes here, making it an ideal date spot.

Old Chang Kee

Anybody familiar with Old Chang Kee knows that it’s practically synonymous with delectable curry puffs. But those who cannot resist decades of tasty tradition would be glad to see the other menu items at this VivoCity outlet.

And it’s easy enough to get tempted as a casual passerby as the food is always served hot from the wok. Plus, it’s comfort food inside a temperature-controlled mall, so what’s not to like?

Pro-tip: There’s a menu item called the Nacho Cheese Curry Puff, which tastes just about as awesome as it sounds!
